A meeting of the Degree of Honor will be held in the Masonic Hall this evening and two cundidates are to be initiated. Atter the meeting refresh ments will be served bv a committee Last week a small band or gypsies passed through town and remained over night. The women of the party called at many houses to tell fortunes and to sell various articles which thev had to sell. A cartv consisting of Mr. and Mrs. W, P. Dvkeman and Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Dutton. the latter of Davis Creek, Monday morning, started on a trip to the Coaft. They expect to be absent about a month. Andrew Morris, the Camaa ranch er, last week sold thirty seven head of two year old steers to Jim Dodson at nine and one auarter cents per pound. This is considered to be a very good price. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mushen have re turned from Silver Lase. where Mr. Mushen has been employed for some time past taking meaurements on Sil ver Creek and doing other engineering work for the countv. S. L. He expects to leave for California in a short time to attend school. Commencing Saturday Valley Falls will have three mails a week instead of two as at present. Hereafter mails will leave Lakeview for Valley Falls every Tuesday. Thursday and Satur day, while on the alternate davs the mail will come around that way from Paisley. One of the most interesting films yet shown at the Arcadia was that showing the building of the Panama canal. The oiotures were shown Tues dav and Wednesday evenings, and gave an excellent idea of the huge machin ery and rapidity of the work which is being accomplished. Countv Commissioner Anderson ar rived from Lake Sunday to be in at tendance at tho adjourned term of Countv Court. Mr. Anderson states that the northern part of the countv is in excellent shape and that the people are pleued with the outlook for a bright future in that section.
