view first of the week to make proof
on a timber claim in the Deschutes

John Metzker and family, of Cedar
ville spent several days In Ijakeviow
during the pat week visiting relatives
and friends. They spent the past
few months at Rawhide, the Nevadu
mining camp. y
A. II. and C. L. Barnum came in
to town first of the week from Mc
Kendree's sheep camp. The boys
accidentally ran onto a fine timber
claim on Cox Creek , aud came to
town to file ou it.
Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Watson started
for Portland Tuesday to attend the
Rose festival in that oity beginning
on the Ct. They will be absent from
Lakeview a month. Mr. Watson is
taking his annual vacation.
S. V. Rehart returned Monday
morning from New York and Washing
ton. D. C , where he spent the pant
winter. Mr. Rehart says he enjoyed
bis visit in the East and saw and
beard many things of interest to
bim. He will remain in Lakevew
this summer.
