So the impress ion that that paper has, either will fully or ignorantly, given out is mis leading.as Lakeview is the county seat of Lake County, the material for the new building has been bought aud paid for and is on the ground, aud the contract for its construction have been let, and assessments levied aud ! the money will be collected for the i ject to the decision of the Democratic Party, at the Primary election, to be held April 1, 1908. There is no law in the United States that can prevent the contractors 1 from caryiug out their contracts and 1 collecting for their work. The people! of Lake county have paid for the new j court house to be built in Lakeview. j and we assert with every assurance of j being right, that there is not an 1111- I biased aud unselH-sn taxpayer iu .the ! county who will wish to build auother court house 111 this county at the pres ent time, simply to satisfy a triHiug spite of a few w hose interests might be enhanced by removal of the couuty seat to another place in the county, ULless they favor a division of the county. The Oregoi'iau states what is not true, when it f-ays that Lake view coul I not M't a signer to a re-niuu-trauce against the movement iu Warner. Its purpose is selfish, for; the reason that, as The Examiner said a few Wreks aro, tV-tt that paper was dou hud out at Silver Lake aud must seek new Hel is, aud is pulling its last string. .Mr. Lester, j ublicher of that paper, Las been driven out of Silver) Lake with his t-alnon, aud must seek a : new field, and where he is, his paper j mu?t be also. If we hear aright, his! life will te short in Paisley, as it is' stated that that town will go dry at the June election. He is simply pleading to the people of Lake county to aid him in re-establishing himself jsud his paper, aud providing a pay-1 iug field for hirn. A very prominent ; citizen of Paisley stated a few days j ago iu the presence of a large crowd i that he was not guilty of subscribing for that paper :r of ever it. the movement as that paper, Hud its 1 purpose is purely sellish. Personal gain is its sole purpose. There will be I many who will by disgusted with the misleading statements and underhand 1 methods pursued by such an unpopu- ' lar pai er as the Silver Lake Oregonian. Lake county is very large, and at souie time will be made into two, counties. This will be dune as s-jou i as the noithern part of the county j feels like it would like division, and j will uot be opposed by the south end j of the county, so far as we can learn. ' The southend does not de.-ne to stand , in the way of the progress of the north j end of the county nor to retard its development iu the least. Iu fact, the south end will favor sunh a move at the next legislative session, should the ' north end so desire, lint when the . attempt ia made to remove the couuty B"J at from Lakeview, 11 strong fight will be put up, and one that wiJl win out, too. There mo people iu Silver Lake, aud we venture to .-my in Pais ley also, who will not favor the, re moval of the county heat, for the rea son Kiveu above; that this county lias DO use for two court houses. half for you- appioval, aud if you choose to select me tor the office i again, I pledge myself to perform the duties of clerk during the next term as faithfully as 1 have iu the past.
