J,ISUaRY sjiWB An Efficient Candidate. Now that Mr. j. A. Hrattaln has conceded to be a candidate lor tbe i nonunntion ca the Republican ticket for Representative to tbe Legislature from the Twenty First Represen tative district, comprising (jiaut. Crook Klamath and Lake counties H behooves every Republican to put him self to work to secure the uoouinatlon of Mr. Brattsln. If elected, which there is no possible doubt, he will not only represeut Lake county but will co-operate with his colleague from any other part of the District whomsoever he may be for the welfare of tbe District. There is needed leg islation which will work to the mutual benefit of every resident of the dis trict, aud in which Mr. Brattain is willing, and anxious to assist in bringing about. There too, is special legislation much needed in Lake county which his wide knowledge of existing conditions especially qualifies him to advocate and put through the legislature. Mr. Brattain has broad views on all matters of general public interest; be is a man of high educa tional qualifications, being a graduate from tbe State University of Oregon, is experienced in business affairs, suo cessful in all he has ever undertaken and popular throughout the District where he is known. Tries to Mislead. The Siver Lake Oregonian editor would have the people believe, al though he must surely know that tbe impressions be gives out are false, that because Tbe Examiner gets tbe county printing it stands in with tbe "powers that be," as he calls every body who happens to have a little more say in matters than he does. The truth of tbe matter is, Tbe Examiner has a larger subscription list than four such papers as tbe Silver Lake Orego nian, and upon this list, which was the only one filed with the county court, Tbe Examiner was awarded tbe county printing. The court could do nothing else, of course. That paper also finds fault with The Examiner for announcing that the Candidates' column was open to all candidates of all political parties oar contemporary purposely leaves out the word political, in quoting what Tbe Examiner said but, very well, Bro., we will let that go your way. You mention among the other impossible things, that we will accept the card of a candidate on the anarch ist ticket. Didn't know there was such a ticket, but if there is and a candidate applies for space for bis card in tbe candidates' column, and will announce that he is an anarchist, he might get the space, and we would probably tell him plainly, that his money was ill spent., as be could not j expect but one vote in tbe county, and that from the editor of tbe Silver i Lake Oregonian. You, Bro. Oregon i-1 an, pretend to tbe public that you would not accept advertisements or subscriptions from anyone who did not believe just as you do. If such was actually the case, you would not t have a single subscriber for there in 1 not a man, woman or child on earth who doeo, or could believe as you do. You are all alone in this wide world in your opinions, and no one is try ing to plaigarize tbem. j Tbe Silver Lake Oregonian takes several drives at Tbe Examiner last week, some of which are too silly for consideration. Tbe editor of the Sil ver Lake Oregonian might be called a sore-bead, if it were not impossible fn. klm A L,n AnA Tf 1 ,1 I w mui uuo. verjruuuy una , beard of the fellow who bad no head, j aud whose backbone bad grown a little above bis shoulders, and haired over: ' 11 .v mlu- r,:. . i cu, iu iud ui iu Oliver iase 1 Oregonian man, it didn't even hair over very good.
