The Kind You Have Always Bought Bears the Signature of Run Amuck in Ahurss. A man by the name of Joseph, who was in Lakeview a few weeks ago. weut to Alturas, and was put in Jail there for disturbing the peace. lie tried to pick a quarrel out of George Kobinsou. the Lakeview-Al-turas stage driver, last Thursday eyeulug, aud George lielug a quiet uuassumlug boy. refused to quarrel with him, and went Into the hotel for his supper. When George came out of the dlnlug room the landlord told btin not to go out In the front as Joseph Was waiting for him and meaut to do him harm. Mr. Robin sou said he had to go aud tend to his horses, and went along about nls business, paying no attention to Joseph. But the bully wasnotsatis tied, and followed him up and knock ed him down and began to stamp him. Friends of Robinson pulled the fellow off aud George went on his way, with a pair of blackened eyes and a bruised fuce. Joseph then jumped another fellow for a row and a cuttlug scrape resulted. Roth men were slashed about tlie arms considerable, and Joseph was lodg ed iu jail. $10 CASH. Signs Over Their Land. Mr. Abner Weed, who recently bought nearly 8,000 acres of land in Klamath county has signed most of the tract over to the Water Users Association. Mr. Weed's action bad the desired effect on Mr. Keamcs of Klamath Falls, who also owned a large tract of land inside the boun dary of the irrigation project, and he also signed up a portion of his land. The required per cent of land has now been signed up, and there seems to be nothing to further delay work on" the project. Actual work should begin at once, if It is really the desire of the supervising engin eers that dirt should fly this fall. Only the pessimist awaits the nest obstacle. Those interested, and that means every sensible person in the West, is anxious waiting to see what government Irrigation will do. Peo ple ought to know, but there are a great many missouiians. Fair is Success. Register J. N. Watson says the Lewis & Clark Fair is certainly a success, bo far as an observor is cap able of judging, and Is well worth the time and mouey necessary to see it. The Irrigation Congress, of which he was a delegate, did some very Important work in its line. The Congress dealt principally with Irrigation matters generally all over the West, aud did not take up for de tailed discussion any particula. lo cal irrigation scheme, although the Cbewaucan project was brought up in the session and received the atten tion of several delegates. It to evi dent that Lake county's wishes will eventually be brought to light before the Reclamation service. Speed the day. II - GEORGE JAHHERTHAL Mr Our Offer.
