NOTES TAKEN ALONG THE IINL There in no headache in Jeeee Moore whisky. That's because it's pure. Brush artists are making the resi dence of F. O. Bunting quite attractive. William I 'e tree has qualified as Road Supervisor in District No. 5 North Warner. William Stanley, who is running the Tonningsen sheep, was in from l'lueh last week. The Examiner is in receipt of the latest 1900 puzzle from Dr. Joe Dewey, of Alturas. Sheriff Dunlap lias been directed by the County Court to proceed to collect all delinquent taxes forthwith. Still the buzz of the saw and the ring of the hammer lend sweet music to the ear in Lakeview. Many men are at work building. Frank Coker, a former resident of Lakeview, and u popular young man, has returned from Alaska, and was in town this week. Another delightful rain last Friday cooled and cleared the atmosphere, and will no doubt tend greatly to abate the prevailing sickness. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Does, well known in Lakeview. are now residents of Boie City, Idaho, and order their Examiner forwarded to them there. H. M. Kusfell was in town last Friday Settling up home businens affairs. He will take charge of the Grand Central Hotel at Alturas next Saturday. M. A. striplin, wife and littLe son, ar rived from Surprise Valley last week on a visit with relatives and friends. Mr. Striplin is prosjering on a ranch near Cedarville. The tame judges and clerks of elec tion that serve i at the June election will serve in the November election at the same polling places. These officers were a pointed for two years. Cedarville Record: "T. A. Hender son last week purchased Creswler & Bonner, John Dodson and Bruno Tyer yar's cattle and James Fee's cows, about 500 head in all, for the Oakland Meat Market." S. F. Ahlstrom, the saddler, is now located at the old stand on Main street with a larger and better stock than ever. Ahlstrom'a is a handsome saddlery, and orders for those celebrated Lakeview saddles are rushing in. J. C. Conn, the Silver Lake merchant, arrived from San Francisco last Thurs day evening, via the Southern, and started lor Ms Mlver Lake Dome the following day. Mr. Conn has leen be low for three weeks making purchases of general merchandise. Col. Wint, formerly stationed at Ft. Bidwell, now commanding the Sixth Cavalry in China, was at the head of his command in the battle of Tein Tsln, in which 100 Chinese were killed and 5 Americans wounded. Col. Wint still owns a farm at Ft. Bidwell. George McGrath returned last Satur day morning from Little Shasta, where he assisted the ball team of that place in defeating the Edge wood ball tossers in the shameful score of 32 to 16. The game was for $550 a side, and was wit nessed by 2,600 people. The Siskiyou News, in noting the players, says of our townsman: "Pitcher McGrath has a f;reat arm and may some day play with eague teams." For Sale A good team, spring wagon and harness. It's real en joyment. 28-tf Henry Meryfield, who purchased 7,000 head of sheep in Lake county, has been arrested in Modoc county for "violation of the sheep ordinance" moving his sheep at the rate of one mile per day across the range lands of Modoc. Mery- neld positively refused to pay the license for grazing sheep in that county; con sequently, his arrefted followed. J. E. King, murderer of Church in Sonoma county, and well known in Modoc, was recently captured at (Hand, Cal., and is now in the Marin County jail. King eluded the officers for thirty six days, and was finally arrested through information given by a cousin. His sifter died in Sonoma county when she heard of the murder, and the pris oner himself i on the vergeof insanity. Joe Marks and a party of friends, all of Alturas, recently visited Crater Lake, ami Mr. Marks tells the Alturas Plain dealer that the "Crater Lake is a fraud and a humbug nothing but a great big hole filled partly with water." The American ople like to be "hum butfgrd," so, according to Mr. Marks, alnxit three thousand of them were "humbugged" at Crater Lake this sea son. However, "humbug or no hum bug," we dare say the gentleman en joyed the beautiful ncenery in that neighborhood, and was well "repair! for his trip, evn if he did partake of too many huckleberries.
