Seventy five children were enrolled for the Daily Vaca tion Bible School held last week at the Mehama Commun ity Church, with an average attendance of seventy two for the five days. A program was held at the church Sunday evening. June 15, at 6:00 p.m. with a large number of pupils, family and friends attending. VORSHIP- 111 00 LmJ Idanha Legion Installs Officers For 1975-76 Mary Jo Stice Funeral services were held Monday at 1.30 p.m. at Virgil T Golden Mortuary in Salem for Mrs. Mary Jo Stice of Sa lem who passed away Friday in a Salem hospital. Mrs. Stice, who was 78 years of age, was a native of Kansas. During the '30’s, the family lived ............. in Mill — City - - for a num- her of yearsin the 300 “lock on S. E. Kingwood. After moving to Salem, she worked a number of years in the Salem canneries. Survivors include her wido wer, Henry Stice of Salem; three daughters. Mrs. Shirley Gonzales of Woodburn; Mrs. Violet Sparks and Evalee Stice both of Salem; two sons. Joe Stice and Dale Stice of Sa lem; one sister, eight grand children and six great-grand children. Rev. Ostis Wilson officiated at the service and private in terment was in the Rosendale Friends Cemetery. IDANHA The club room of the Idanha Fire Hall was the setting recently for installa tion ceremonies of the Amer ican Legion Auxiliary-Idanha Unit. 141. Officers installed were Laura Houck, president; Edith Bit ner, first vice-president; Con nie Presley, chaplain; Reba Snyder, secretary - treasurer; Tena Michaelson, sgt. at-arms and Sarah Benton, historian. Executive Committee: Opal | Leming. Thelma Smith and j Carrie Storey. Installing offic-1 er, Mrs Opal Leming, was as sisted by Sgt.-at-Arms, Ada I Tompkins. Guests at a recent meeting of the Unit were Mrs. Joseph Marcroft, National Executive Committee Woman, Salem, Capital Nine, and Mrs. Julian E. Lahoski. Salem, Unit 136. Prizes Awarded For Bicentennial Posters Austin If. Counts Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 at Weddle’s Funeral Home in Stayton for Austin H. Counts who passed away last Thursday in a Salem hospital. Mr. Counts was stricken with an apparent heart attack while logging in the Kinney Creek area south of the Detroit Dam about 3:30 pm. He was taken by the Idanha Rural Fire Protect ion Dist. Ambulance to ■m hospital where he a Salem died about I two hours later. He was employed by the Lakeline Logging Co. Mr. Counts was 51 years of age. He was a native of Sum ner and a veteran of WWIL He had lived in Gates and Mill City for the past 22 years. I Rev. Dean Cade of the Gates | Christian Community Church’ officiated at the services and! interment was in Fairvivew Cemetery. Survivors include the wi dow Amy of Gates; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Priem of Woodburn; Mrs. Ina En glishman and Mrs. Lorretta ‘ Tison; three sons, Austin S. 1 Counts, Richard Counts and George Boltin; one brother,1 five sisters, including Mrs. Jessie Brosig of Gates, and thirteen grandchildren.
