The Mill City Enterprise, Thursday, July 15, 1971 Santiam River Just a Trickle Lions Elect International President Come in and meet the New Manager Stanley Ogden is tearing down an old barn located at their place in Ogden addition in Mill City. He said he figures the old buildng to be about 70 years old. He plans to sal vage some of the lumber to make a porch on his house. at Larry and Jimmy Jacobson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Jacobson of John Day, are spending some time here visit ing friends and relatives. BETTY McCALL ROBERT J. UPLINGER Mr. and Mrs. William Mc Call, Vickie and Kevin have just returned from a two weeks vacation which took them to Cashiers, N. C., where they visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert McCall. Accompanying them on the trip were his brother and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCall and Ronnie of Coos Bay. While there, Bill got to see many of his cousins that he had not seen for 15 or 20 years. It rained nearly all the time they were there and they ran into several thunderstorms on the return trip home. Serving as the 55th President of the world’s largest humanitarian service organization, Uplinger leads some 960,000 members in 25,300 clubs located in 146 countries and geographic areas throughout the world. Lions International is best known for its aid to the blind and sight conservation ac tivities, international activi ties, international relations programs, and its many com munity service projects. “Lionism is Commitment” will be the primary theme during Uplinger’s 1971-1972 Presidential Year. The devel opment of the local Lions Clubs through the individual member’s commitment to all aspects of service will be em phasized.
