Brownie Troop 322 of Lyons met Thursday, March 7th for a Brownie birthday party cel ebrating each girl’s birthday anniversary. Present at the meeting was Mrs. Valery Dah lenburg. She informed the girls they had done exception ally well in earning $25.00 for their troop. HM2 Thomas Grimes is spending a 30 day leave at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Chester Grimes. He re cently returned from Viet nam and following his leave he will report at Portsmouth, Va., for schooling. Carter were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson from Gaston and Mrs. Ruth Wolfe from Forest Grove. The Colorful Knitting and Sewing 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. Elvin Pederson on Tuesday, March 12. The girls worked on their dresses and learned to put in a zipper. Attending were Susan Fritchi, Bertha Wilson, Sandra Kuhn, Linda Sharek, Becky Lathrop and leaders Mrs. Pederson, Mrs. Howard Naue and Mrs. Don Huber. Bradley Toman of Salem spent several days this week at the home of his grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Stevens. Additional Wednes day evening dinner guests at the Stevens home were their daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Albert Toman and daughter Janet of Salem and their son APP Steven Toman who is home on leave follow ing his boot training at San Diego. Following his leave he will report at Pensacola, Fla., for further training. Another daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott of Mill City were also dinner guests. A fellowship hour and pot luck will be held Friday, March 29 at the Lyons Meth odist church at 6 p. m. All members and friends are wel come to attend. Miss Nikki Cruson, student at the School of Nursing at the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland is spending this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cruson. Plans are now under way by members of the WSCS for their birthday luncheon to be held April 30 in the dining hall of the church. Robert (Robin) Prichard of Tillamook and his fiancee, Miss Jean Holden also of Til lamook, were Saturday guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Prich ard. A Products party is sched uled for April 27th at 10:00 A. M. in the social room of the Idanha Fire Hall by the ladies of the Detroit Catholic Church to which the public is invited. Proceeds from the party will be used to help furnish the new church. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zeh- rung of Salem are receiving felicitations on the birth of a daughter, born March 12th at a Salem hospital. Young of Tal lmadge, Ohio. The Wedding is scheduled April 9th at the First Congregational Church at Tallmadge, Ohio. Perry Is the son of Perry and the former Jean Fry, Sr. who formerly resided in the old town of Detroit. His moth er is now Mrs. Calvin Cham bers, of Salmen. The State Highway Dept., crew has been busy recently with the “blasting off” of a large rock along the North Santlam Highway above Idan ha. Because of the rocks pro truding size much of the view at the Intersection leading to South Idanha is obstructed. The “blasting off" of a portion of the rock is being done as a safety measure, Foreman Glen Beachy said Monday. He said the project is scheduled for completion some time this Spring. The Salem home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Larson and Mrs. Ida Golder, was the set ting for a “Pot-luck” lunch eon when the members of the Willing Workers Club met Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tow er of Idanha are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Eileen Michelle, to Henry Frank Storey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Storey also of Idanha. The wedding is scheduled for late May. Both Miss Tower and Mr. Storey are graduates of De troit school. Mr. Storey is a Senior at Pacific University, Forest Grove, where he is majoring in optometry. Detroit Youth Group Meet at Taylor Home IDANHA — The I d a n h a home of counselor Martha Tayloi was the setting Sun day evening for a meeting of the Young People with 26 in attendance. During the bust ness meeting the group voted to send $20.00 to Dave Bil lings, a missionary in the Phil ippine Islands. Mrs. Taylor said the children do not go to church in the Islands, so Mr. Billings has organized a bas ketball team. The group felt that the money would help to buy some of the necessary sport gear, or aid in camp work. The evenings program in cluded a discussion on “Whats After Death".
