Carroll, 56 of Chicago, Illinois passed away Tuesday morning at the Santiam Memorial Hospital in Stayton while he and his wife were visiting at the home of his sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Thiei and his moth er, Mrs. Edna Carroll who makes her home with the Thiels at Lyons. Survivors include his mother, Mis. Edna Carroll, and his sis ter Mrs. Charlotte Thiel of Ly ons. one sister in Chicago, one brother in Chicago and one brother in Florida. His wife Jean left for Chicago Tuesday ev ening Private services were held Wednesday morning at the Weddle Funeral home in Stay ton and the body was shipped to Chicago for services and burial there. Appearing on the ballot next month, May 20. will be a mea sure which will call for a yes or no vote on whether the coun ty should levy an annual pro- pery tax of $102,848 for the next five years. This would mean an addition of one an one-half mills to the taxation of county pro perty. Supporters of the proposed county system point out that the Bookmobile has made library service available to thousands of county residents in rural areas during the past two de monstration years, and that centralized facilities of the coun ty library would make available to the present local libraries services and specialized books which the individual districts are not now able to offer.
