But the number of persons looking for work now has dropped to 22,400, which is the lowest in nearly two years. The Unemployment Compensation Commission also announced that the number of weekly claimants for benefits has fallen below 8,000 for the first time in three years. Every local office of the commis sion except Baker reports fewer un employed persons than were a year ago when 38,900 were unemployed.
