Honor Mrs. Hawkins
The missionary society of the Mill
City Presbyterian church entertained
in the home of the R. L. Fausts, Wed­
nesday afternoon, in honor of Mrs. A.
Hawkins, a former resident of Mill
City who since has moved to Silverton.
A pleasant afternoon was spent in
visiting. The hostess, Mrs. R. L.
Faust, assisted by Mrs. Edna Ross
served a light lunch to those present.
Those enjoying the hospitality of
the Faust home were Mrs. Hawkins
and daughter, Mrs. C. Read, of Sil­
verton, Mrs. Otto Witt, Mrs. W. Allen,
Mrs. Gertrude Mason, Mrs. L. Hatha­
way, Mrs. Lettie Swan. Mrs. H.
Schroeder, Mrs. C. Rogers, Mrs. Mary

Visiting at the Christian Church
parsonage last week were Mrs. Jull’s
brother, Herbert E. Whitaker, his wife,
and his daughter, Nancy, of Billings,
Montana.
Mrs. Edna McCreary this week had
as her guests in her Ocean Park,
Washington, beach house Mrs. Don
Peterson and daughters, Diane, Sylvia,
and Susan. The party left Sunday
afternoon and returned Tuesday eve-
ing via the new ferry at Astoria.
Some of the group’s time while at
the beach was spent in digging clams
on the beach.
The Harold Wiltses, “Dub” Sewarts,
Arlo Tuers’s and Burnett Coles were
coast visitors Saturday’ night and Sun­
day. The men of the group, who are
Mill City Volunteer Firemen, played
softball with a coast town team Sun­
day.
The George Vetetoes visited the
eastern Oregon rock gardens last
Sunday.
Mrs. Dolores McClain, former
beauty operator in Shirley’s Beauty
Shop, left for Portland, Saturday.

Cooler weather and a little moisture
last week allowed mill workers and
loggers back on the job. A full day
Monday, the first time in a long time,
but it was short lived. The mills were
down for low humidity at noon Tues­
day.
Word has been received by friends
that Lon Everly is stationed in Hawaii
and Mrs. Everly and Vougn will join
him there in the near future. Everly
is in Navy aviation.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Tucker and Jon
have just returned from a ten day trip
into Canada. Tucker reported seeing
“lakes and more lakes” and beautiful
scenery.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Morland and
children of Dallas, were guests the
past weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Hiebert and family.
Nancy and Shirley Ramsay and
Karen Phillips of Mongold and Sally
New and Becky Stoll of Idanha went
to Silver Falls Girl Scout camp last
