PAGE EIGHT MILL CITY ENTERPRISE, JULY 21, 194» Gates The Hutcheson - Parker furniture store was to hold its opening sale Thursday evening. The store building is completed and a cement walk has been laid in front, which, with the walk in front of Richards Tavern and the Gates general store gives Gates quite a citified appearance. The postoffice has been mowed to its new location and work on the new building will be started in a few days. Jerry Lyons spent the Fourth put ting a new coat of paint on his home which adds much to the attractiveness of the place. Charles Rush has started erection of a store building on his property and will operate a feed store when it is completed. Mr. and Mrs. Bob White were re cent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith. White lived in Gates a number of years ago and made his home with the Smiths. Descendants of Laura A. and Ste phen H. Champ held a family reun- ino Sunday at Stayton Park. It was voted to make the gathering an an- ual affair. Officers etected were: pre sident, Mrs. Melbourne Rambo, vice president, Mrs. Leonard Zuber, sec retary-treasurer, Ms. Eldon Champ. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Shel ton and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Champ and sons, all of Stayton; Mr, I and Mrs. Dale Champ and son, of Mehama; Mr. and Mrs. Melbourn Rambo and children and Mr. and Mrs Riley Champ, all of Gates; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Zuber and son of Port land; M-Sgt and Mis. Frank Smith and children of Cheyenne; and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Balsiger and daughter of Underwood, Waidi. etc." while he had to stay at ■ Park, cu. home, poor devil, he got his dope mix ed and wrote that Mr. and Mrs. Har ry Edwards and three children had gone to Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Ed wards, minus the three children, went to Plush, Ore., while Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oliver and three childien went by motor to northeast Wyoming. were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Richards. Mrs. Warner is a former resident of Gates and will be remembered as Miss Frances Mork Sunday guests at the Richards home were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Richards of Portland.
