Varney, state Baptist missionary, will occupy the Simpson property recently purchased by J. E. Noll on college side. Miss Lena Rowland of this city was married to Mr. Mark English of Portland last Friday, July 12th, by Judge Bird. Mr. English is a street car conductor, and their home will be in that city. The degree team from one of the Port land lodges of Odd Fellows will be pres ent and confer the work on a candidate in Occidental lodge Saturday evening, returning home on the afternoon Sunday train. A special meeting of Occidentcl lodge has been called for Friday evening. Mrs. Rachel Barney, aged 75 years, died in Walla Walla, and was buried in North Yamhill cemetery on Monday, She was the mother of Lewis Hutch, and a half-sister of Hon. Lee Laughlin.
