Our postmaster, Mr. Garrison, has been suffering from a severe attack of the grip the last week. Miss Bessie Linden spent Saturday and Sunday at her home iu Sheridan. She is the proud possessor of a new bicycle. The Salvation Army held services in the church here Saturday evening, Sun day morning and evening, and Tuesday evening. Wbiteeon chronicles in these last days arose one king la grippe, and gripped the people with such an iron grip that all will be glad when his reign is over. Life Insurance Agent Mulligan of Am ity was doing business in town Tuesday, looking forward to the organization of a Washington in McMinnville Saturday. Tbe lantern entertainment given by Paul Kleppiu last Thursday evening was enjoyed by an appreciative audience. The pictures were true to life, the lights good and tbe lecture very beneficial. He will return in tbe near future. The annual school meeting last Mon day was well attended. D. C. Gates was re-elected clerk, and Miles Houck director, succeeding Edgar Conner whose term had expired. About 90 citizens attended the annual school meeting last Monday afternoon. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Irvine. The clerk read the call, aud the minutes of the last regular and special meetings, and the same were 1 approved. The report of W. L. Hem bree, clerk, was read and approved. A. J. Hunsaker nominated W. 8. Houck and W. G. Henderson named J. P. Irvine. The chair appointed R L. Con ner, W. D. McDonald, F. W. Spencer and J. G. Eckman as tellers. The bal lot stood 43 for Irvine and 42 for Houck. It was a beautiful race, with honors about even. Mr. Irvine thanked his his friends and assured them of his un tiring interest in public school work, making numerous comparisons with neighboring cities showing that we have by far the lowest tax levy and the fullest treasury of all. In bis remarks. Mr. Irvine said the board was harmonious. Mr. Cooper asked, “Why not tarn city affairs over to the board?” This created a great laugh. Mr. Daniel named B. F. Rhodes for school clerk, aud moved that the clerk cast the ballot, there being no other nominations. Mr. Rhodes was elected, and on motion the meeting ad journed.
