A NEW CANDIDATE FOR PUBLIC FAVOR
MEETING WITH MARVELOUS SUCCESS.
Although this modern and well-stocked
store was thrown open to the patronage
of the public only two months ago by
Mr. P. Fisher, yet it now commands a
trade that is far beyond the most san
guine expectations of even the confident
proprietor himself in the beginning. This '
is an earnest of the fact that good, hon
est values and courteous treatment are
fully appreciated by the intelligent and
observant people of this city and county.
Mr. Fisher’s specialties are dry goods,
clothing, shoes and furnishings, and only
a visit to his handsome and commodious 1
store is necessary to convince one and all
that his prices cannot be duplicated else
where. The proprietor is honestly en
deavoring to quote such prices as will
dispose of every dollar’s worth of spring
and summer goods, in order to make
room for the enormous fall stock, in
voices of which are arriving daily. See
the Chicd^o store’s prices, marked in
plain figures, and you will not be long in
concluding that it is the cheapest store
in town that has made such a fine start
in business in such a short time.
THE STAR FLOURING MILLS.
A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE
THAT IS A CREDIT TO M’MINNVILLE.
The Star flouring mills are conducted
by Messrs. Stout & Daniel and are up to
date in every respect. They deal large
ly iu flour, grain and feed, as well as the
usual other products of a flouring mill,
making exchanges with farmers at whole
sale and retail at current rates and satis-
r' faction is guaranteed in every instance.
Grain, is also stored. Their favorite
brand of flour is the Star, of guaranteed
weight and quality, though they manu
facture several other popular brands.
. Both members of the firm are old-time
T* citizens and stand high in social and
business circles. Mr. Stout has been a
resident of these parts since 1861, and
Mr. Daniel for a quarter of a century.
The latter gentleman is at present a
member of the city council. The Star
mill was built by the late John J. Sax in
.^884, being destroyed by fire in the
month of May, 1887, after which the bus
iness and as much of the plant as was
i^ill standing,were purchased by Messrs.
Stout & Martin. Three years ago the
present firm came into existence, Mr.
Stout having charge of the books and
accounts, while Mr. Daniel has personal
charge of the mill, being assisted in the
work by his son and son-in-law. The
mill is a four-story brick building, the
propelling power is water, and immedi
ately adjoining is a spacious frame ware
house, filled to repletion with the prod
ucts of the farm and mill. The capacity
of the mill is 125 barrels of flour daily,
and large shipments are made to San
Francisco and Japan. 1,500 barrels of
flour have bean shipped to the latter
country in the month of May of the
present year The breakfast foods man
ufactured at the Star mills are in popular
demand and are at once wholesome and
nutritions. Particularly is this true of
. their Germania and Wheatlet.
