THE STAR FLOURING MILLS.
A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE

The Star flouring mills are conducted
by Messrs. Stout & Daniel and are up to
date in every respect. They deal large­
ly iu flour, grain and feed, as well as the
usual other products of a flouring mill,
making exchanges with farmers at whole­
sale and retail at current rates and satis-

brand of flour is the Star, of guaranteed

. Both members of the firm are old-time

business circles. Mr. Stout has been a
resident of these parts since 1861, and
Mr. Daniel for a quarter of a century.
The latter gentleman is at present a
member of the city council. The Star
mill was built by the late John J. Sax in
.^884, being destroyed by fire in the
month of May, 1887, after which the bus­

Stout & Martin. Three years ago the
present firm came into existence, Mr.
Stout having charge of the books and
accounts, while Mr. Daniel has personal
charge of the mill, being assisted in the
work by his son and son-in-law. The
mill is a four-story brick building, the
propelling power is water, and immedi­
ately adjoining is a spacious frame ware­
house, filled to repletion with the prod­
ucts of the farm and mill. The capacity
of the mill is 125 barrels of flour daily,
and large shipments are made to San
Francisco and Japan. 1,500 barrels of
flour have bean shipped to the latter
country in the month of May of the
present year The breakfast foods man­
ufactured at the Star mills are in popular
demand and are at once wholesome and
nutritions. Particularly is this true of
