Capt. Harris recorded 11.42 inches of
rainfall at this point for January. There
were 18 inches of snow. Highest tem­
perature was 58 deg.; lowest. 21 deg.;

The Amity Blade says that Wm. Ry-
mal and G. Patty will engage in exten­
sive dairying on the farm of the latter,
where they will erect a barn for 60 cows,
and put in a separator with a capacity of
300 pounds daily.
Mrs. Mary Newgard died early Monday
morning at the residence of her son A.
L. Newgard, at the advanced age of 89
years. The funeral occurred Wednesday
afternoon, at the residence, conducted by
Rev. E. E Thompson.
The endeavorers of the C. P. church
will give n musical-narrative entertain­
ment ou the evening of St. Valentine’s

John Knight in vain at Hillsboro last
Friday, by placing it on a bank check,
after having secured Knight’s signature

The forgery was promptly discovered and
the forger arrested.
A. A. Unruh has invented an im­
proved bicycle crank, intended to HSsist
in climbing hills. By increased pressure
the crank automatically lengthens to
nine inches, thus increasing the leverage.
It is said to be a decided advantage in
climbing and in facilitating a quick start.
He has applied for letters patent.
The Woodmen of the World and the

McMinnville college Friday evening de­

on the 22d inst., and compete with other
prize orators for the laurels of the state
