In Addition to th« above, Mr. Flagg says the agents, without just cause, are notifying many suttlms Io appear and defend their clai ms, and as this proceed ing costs considerable money they can illy offord to spend it. Thu report that has been going the rounds of the press concerning the sate- inenta of Beecher on Catholicism, seem to have foundation. These rumors have created considerable excitement in church orders, and Father Reaidon a warm and int'inate f.lenil of Beechers, said that although Beecher had been most favorably incline I utli in utterance and attitude tew.ml the Catliolii church. He remembers once only, when Beecher came out and saiil, “But foi the fact that it is impo-sible for me to sever mv relations with Plymouth church, I would emhiaee Catholicism,” Gieat us Beecher was dining his life, his constancy toward orte church of the gospel, was not so very great. T elephone : D ear S ir :—Last week I arrived in McMinnville fully prepared to open a Drug Store in yQurenterpris ing city, but after looking the field over, 1 was convinced that it would e suicidal for me to embark in trade where there is a buiness house, so disgustingly aggressive and so lost to the interests of other houses as one you have located in your city. It is with surprise and chagrin that I notice that this par ticular house is steadily increasing its number of customers day after day, by employing methods that would make it very uncomfortable for me, if I were in busiuess here. Just as it now does for competing establishments who are striving to combat the evil. I refer to G eo . W.
