CASCADE LOCKS (By Jerry Woodward) H. E. Pointer’s name was drawn on the jury panel and reported at Hood River Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. H. Munkres and son, Glen, a: d Miss Viola Brink spent the holidays at Bend visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George Haggblom, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Haggblom and son, Louie, and Eric Haggblom vis ited in Washougal Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Saunders serv ed a delicious turkey dinner last Friday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Foulkes, who were leaving to make their home at Coos Bay. Mr. Foulkes is retired from the govern ment after ^having served about 19 years, 5 being spent in the Locks. Those enjoying the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Foulkes, Mr. and Mrs. Vic tor Wirgen and Mr. and Mrs. Art Warren and son, Artie, Mrs. Pri- ser, sister of Mrs. Gigren and the host and hostess. Ott Becker and Louie Bien spent Thursday in P o r t l a n d visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. George Webber, Mrs. Sangster and Mrs. Bill Keeler en joyed a trip to Crater Lake by way o f Bend and came back to Timber- line Lodge Sunday but cloudy weath er conditions obscured some of the beautiful scenery for them. Miss Gertrude Goughnar spent the week-end at the home of her sister, Mrs. Eileen Rosenback. Miss Jo Young of Portland enjoyed the holidays visiting her sister, Mrs. Jack Flaucher. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kimball and Mr. and Mrs. Emery Canner and children of Klamath Falls visited the J. F. Kelsay family. Not finding them here, they drove to Canby, where the Kelsays were visitng. Audrey and Betty Kelsay spent Saturday visiting ii\ Oregon City. Mr. and Mrs. Nate Davis and Shir ley Moore were in Hood River Tues day on business. Miss Gretchen Grandstrom, Mr. Lloyd Essee, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nelsbn and Harry Cr&mblett en joyed a pleasant evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doc Carns Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rankin of Stevenson, W n„ visited Mr. Rankin's parents the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller spent Tuesday in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McConn of Hood River were in town Tuesday to visit Mrs. Isabella Osborn and at tend the funeral of Mrs Mable Becker, former daughter-in-law of Mrs. Osborn. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hull and daughter, I n e z , and Miss Lillie Fisher of Portland visited Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Wuner Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Kelsay and children visited Mrs. Kelsay's mother at Canby over the week-end. Mrs. F. J. Richard and daughter, June, and Mrs. Ada Fox of Portland were guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Wuner Sunday. A few of those who spent the holi days at Lost Lake are Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Woodward and children, Mrs. Wilma Fovett and Normon, Mr. and Mrs. Silver Perras, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walker and Freddie, Mr. Dane Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rosenback, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Kyle, and Clayton and Clifford Woodward. Mrs. Ruth White visited her mother, Mrs. Isabella Osborn the first part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Miller and son of Portland spent the holidays at the home of Mrs. Miller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Capt. Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steele and chil dren of Portland were1 visiting Mr. Erick Ostberg over the holidays. Miss Kilda Lahey was a Locks visitor the Fourth, renewing old acquaintances. Miss Celeste Coe of Stevenson is visiting at the J. W. Woodward home. The Church supper last Thursday was attended by a large group of Locks residents. Rev. and Mrs- Weaver were guests. Rev. and Mrs. Douglas were presented with an electric waffle iron in appreciation of their services to the community. The evening was spent in singing. Chet Woodward, Elmer Glazier and Clay Werner arrived from Paisley, Ore., C. C. C. Camp early Sunday morning to visit their respective familys over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. F. Melby spent the week-end in Portland. Among the many persons in Hood River last Friday were Mrs. Melvin Harrington, Mrs. Lee Murray, Mrs. Maude Brolliar, Mrs. Mae Elliott, Mrs. Sanford Hill, Everill Brolliar, Chuck Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rosenback and Mrs. George Hagg blom. J. W. Scott of Westport, Wn., visited his son, Ben Scott, and fam ily for several days. Dewey Merrill and son of Portland visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Merrill over the holidays and enjoyed some fish ing while here. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hyde spent the Fourth in Portland. Mrs. Anna Witham of Portland is spending a few days visiting her sister, Mrs. Agnes Bunnan, of the White Spot. Louie Folsom spent the holidays in Portland visiting friends. ..Elmer Erickson and Doc Folsom spent the week-end touring the Oregon beaches. Earl Hoff, who lived here with his brother, Ernie Hoff, is up from Portland visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. Abe Johnson and Jackie Douville were up f r o m McCurdy Sprinks over the Fourth. George Malcolm, who worked here in 1925, when the mill was in oper ation, looked up a few friends the evening of the Fourth. Mr. Malcolm is now living at Wauna, Ore. Mrs. Sue Woodward, Robert and Stella, enjoyed watching the Beavers play ball at Portland the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. Lew McCormick and children and Mr. and Mrs. J. Adams and daughter of Portland enjoyed the celebration at The Dalles Sun day. Mr. Hendricks and Ike Guildashaff of Warrendale visited friends in the Locks Sunday. Donald Clark visited friends in the Locks during the holidays and made a trip over to Stevenson to see his mother, Mrs. Bill Clark. Don is driving a truck for Pacific Fruit Co. in Portland. Norman Pointer was home over the week-end to visit his parents. Norman has been employed at Yam hill the past several months. Mrs. Freda Hendricks and Mrs. John Semple of Portland visited friends and relatives in the Locks last week. Mr. and Mrs. Vera Sprague and children Eileen and Eleanor, Verna Weeman and Herbert Haggblom en joyed the Rodeo at Mollala the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Miller spent the Fourth at North Plains, Ore. Margy and Charlotte Smith and a younger sister are here from Calif ornia visiting their father, Ace Smith. Carl Rosenback, Captain of the Warco, had the misfortune of having the air compressor balk and is laid up for repairs. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. McMullen and children of Bonneville are now at home in the house formerly occupied by the Foulkes on the government reservation. Mr. McMullen is care taker there. Mr. and Mrs. Carol Johnson. Gloria Bradley, Bill Young, Bob Sherman a n d Vincetti Raccinelli spent the Fourth of July at Jantzen Beach.
