T he H ood R iver w as so m uddy you could ju s t about w alk across it. T he lakes w ere as bad as th e rivers. H ow ever, several lim it catch es w ere m ade on the W est F ork in bait fishing. C ause of m ost of th e trouble is, of course, th e continually hot w eather, w hich is m elting the glaciers and m aking a m uddy soup of the rivers. A few days of cool w ea th er is the cure needed. E ven cen tral O regon fishing seem s to have slipped some, although th ere is good trolling on E a st L ake and P au lin a Lake. A fter a poor sta rt, D iam ond L ake is im proving on fly fishing. The upper D eschutes is re ported to be fair.
