Efforts are being made to get np an orchestra of 35 pupils. The instructo is to receive $25 a month over a period of 90 days and if he does satisfactory work he is to be employed for the bal ance of the term. He is reported to be teaching music in a number of schools in Multnomah county. At Bonneville he will give a day and a half a week to the pupils. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Markham, chief of the United States army engineers, spent sev eral hours going over the Bonne ville dam project last Thursday. Accompanied by Col.. Thomas M. Robins, north Pacific division engineer, and Lieut.-Col. Charles F. Williams, second district Port land engineers. General Markham drove out from Portland to ob serve how work was progressing. What he saw must have impressed him. for afterwards he expressed himself as delighted with the j work and said it was obvious that the dam would be completed in the summer of 1937, a full year ahead of schedule. Few of the employes at the dam knew that General Markham was on the reservation, for there was no fuss or feathers. The partty re turned to Portland, and then drove up to Willapa harbor.
