THE DAM CHRONICLE SECOND POST IXN BTESKARY X movement has been started to organize an American Legion post in Cascade Locks. This is un fortunate and can only ha»r the result of splitting the forces which the veterans com m and in the Bonneville dam area. The Bonneville Dam post has a membership of nearly 100 m em bers. It is strong, well directed and highly organized. It ha» ex cellent quarters in which to meet and is deserving of the support o f every business man in Cascade Locks and of every veteran em ployed at the dam. To divide the force 'by organiz ing a second post within the dist rict would bring on discord at a time when all veterans should be working for a com m on cause. LE T P A R E N T S A C T With opening of the school term only six weeks away considerable agitation is growing up for return o f Principal Autreith. who was dismissed by the county school board on recom m endation o f the local school board. Prior to the school election in June it was understood that no contracts for teachers in the Cas cade Lbcks schools would be signed until the people had an op portunity to express their wishes at the polls. But the county board did not wait for the vote to be counted. It did not o ffer contracts to either Principal Autreith or Miss Stewart. And now neither Principal Autreith or Miss Stew art have schools. Tor the board, in effect, disbarred them and they are finding it dltltcult to ouiain positions. By common consent both Mr. Autreith and Miss Stewart are recognized as two o the best teachers who ever taught in the schools o f Hood River county. And It is quite generally agreed that neither was treated with Justice. Reason fo r their dismissal has never been explained to the pub lic. Captain Rosenback, Erwin B rolliar and Gene Lovell, mem bers o f the local board went con trary to the wishes o f the people In dropping them from the teach ing staff. When it became known that Principal Autreith and Miss Stew art were to be dismissed the w o SUPER STATION NEARS COMPLETION AT LOCKS Four new offices are being com pleted by M.
