CITIZENSHIP IS SOUGHT BY MR. BART WEDDINGS As an expression of our thanksgiving to Providence for a kindliness in tem pering the onslaughts of the elements here in our benign Pacific northwest, we should contribute lilierally to the fund that the Hood River Red Cross is raising for the sufferers down In the flood swept Mississippi delta country. If we could hut comprehend, although slightly, the misery the broken levees have left in their wake, we would give without stint. Hood River lias re sponded well in the past two weeks. Fraternal bodies and churches have helped to raise a substantial fund. We saw Henry Howe, financier of the A. O. U. W. lodge, hurrying to the bank yes terday with a |2S contribution for that order. Let the Individuals of the com munity arouse from apathy and take their contributions to one of the banka. Bishop-Woods The wedding of Mrs. Alice Woods and Chas. L. Bishop occurred at the court house Saturday, April SO. Jus tice of the Peace Blagg officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Bishop were honored with a reception and dinner at the home of Mr. and «Mrs. A. J. Orow, of the East Hide. They made a honey moon trip to Portland. G odcl-Bcrg The wedding of Albert (Jodel and MI hh Hallie I. Berg, both of Portland, was solemnised at the Aabnry Method- let church last Friday, Rev. Henry Young officiating. The bridal party was accompanied by William and Ger trude Daggett. Dynamite Explosion My stifles Notified by residents of the section lying south of the old road to The Dalles, who reported windows smashed by *Tn explosion of dynamite, Sheriff Edick and deputies on investigation last week found a half case of Un exploded powder but no place where a charge had beeu set off. Residents of the section declared that the ex plosion was so terrific as to shake beds, and in some homes dishes were thrown from shelves. Officers continued their search. The theory was advanced that burglars, who had taken a safe in. a haul, had removed it to the neighborhood in an effort to open it. Others think prac tical Jokers may have been playing a hoax.
