X HOOD RIVER GLACI furò Ätoer (Slattar WE GREET YOU The Glacier greet« its readers and advertising patrons this week with a modest edition. We do not seek to celebrate the year's end with an elab orate lawn» as is the custom of so many of our contemporaries. And yet, without boasting, we believe this issue of The Glacier as fairly sets forth, the substantial progress of a prosperous community as any week ly of the state, We have asked an expression of New Year sentiment from every line of endeavor in the community. Most of the New Year’s editiona call for a volume of «pedal adver- tiring. We do not, however, feel jus tified in calling on our advertising patrons to help carry the burden of such an issue. Hood River business fqlk, as the pages of their weekly papers will show, week in and week out, through the year, believe in ad vertising. They make appropriations for It, realising that it is a necessity Daring as a business Investment. New Year’s week merchants are usu- ally busy taking Inventory, Weatber conditions and social activities are not conducive to voltune business. And The Glacier does not ask any Increase in advertising. It prefers to make the New Year’s issue one of the smallest of the year. W wish all of our readers and all ofir patrons a New Year of happiness, the joy of good health and of achieve ment •or, Mr. Blagg, a term as well marked a radio talk from Chicago broadcart by a reasonable application of the recently from tbe Searn-Roebuck ata- tlon WL8 by G, O.
