D. , - J f (Homeopathic Physician) Office at residency. 724 Cascada Ava. Telephone 2961 (From The Packer) From an apple crop estimated to be about one-half of last eeaaon'a, the state of Washington up to September 21, baa rolled u<ayly 500 more car« to market than-' for the same period last season. About 200 or more cara a day are being shipped at the pres ent time; the difference helug that the season opened from 10 days to two "weeke earlier this year than last. A total of 1^71 cars were rolled from the beginning of the present season up to September 21 as against 1,395 cara up to September 22 last year, and 888 up to Heptember 23 the year before that. Oregon shipped 212 cars to Septeml’cr 21 this year, as ixuupared wlt|i 133 to September 22 last season, and but 59 the year be fore that. Shipments from Oregon at the present time amount to about .25 cars a day. Hood River is lielieved to be the one district in the Northwest that will have a crop as large as last year’s. The early sea «on estimates of short crops in tlie Wenatchee and Yakima districts hjve already been reduced very materially due to the unprecedented worm damage. Some now estitpate U*e crop not to, exceed 7,000 cars for the Yakima valley against a total of -over 15.000 cars shipped last season and 8,500 to 9,000 cara in the Wenatchee valley against over 18,000 last year. Prices are very flrm in the North western districts with higher prices than have been known for three years, for both foreign and domestic trading. A nuinlier of the shippers have withdrawn quotations, fearing that at the present rnte of reduction In the estimates they may be sold short, wliile others are quoting only such varieties, grades and sizes as they know they can confirm. Halen of small sizes of red apples have lieen very heavy during tlie last few weeks, with an average f. o. b. prii-e of around $1 50 per box. This, In cotnimrlaon with trades of last fall, is 50c or more per box higher. In late Septemlar of 1923 tlie ex|g>rt deimliid was very dull, the fruit sell- ing at either $1 or less f. o. b„ or on a 50c per box advance basis. Carload cx|M>rtera in the Northwest feel that all small sizes will be sold for export at a strong price. Hales of extra fancy Delicious are practically |1 alsive what they were at tills time last year, with oilier va- rietles ranging from 50c to 81 higher. Recent sales of extra fancy Delicious are reported at 33.50 to 33.75 per I h > x f. o. b., and Wiiiesa|>s at 82 to $2.15 and as high as 82.25. c W. HAMILTON, M. D.
