Ford, president of the Ford Motor Co., Detroit, has announced that the regular cash bonus established De cember 31, 1919, will be continued on the same basis this year. Bonus cheeks are now being made out and distribu tion of them will start the first of Jan uary. These bonuses are in excess of $7,00X1,000 and will be shared by ap proximately 75,000 men. In addition, the Ford Motor Co. an nounces an extra three per cent for the six months ending December 31, on lord investment certificates. This is in addition to the guaranteed six per cent, (8 per cent having been paid July 13, 1020) makinK a total of 14 per cent for the year 1920. Every one in the employ of the com pany prior to October 1, this year and on the payroll December 31, receives a bonus. The bonus goes to the employe free and clear. However, if he wishes, be may invest his money in Ford In vestment certificates, which carry a guaranteed interest of 6 per cent, and also two'speeial payments decided on by the directors of the company. The bonus affects Ford employes at work in the Ford factory, Detroit ; Ford blast furnaces and tractor plant, River Koguo, Mich., all United States branches, besides the foreign branches at Copenhagen, Denmark; Bordeaux, France ; Cadiz, Snain; Buenos Aires, Argentine ; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Monte viedo, Uruguay, anU Cork, Ireland. SCHOOL NEWS By Roberta Lane Friday evening the sophomores of the high school were hosts at a party to the members of the student body and parents of students. More than 200 were present for the party. The auditorium it is said, was never more beautifully decorated. Corners were banked with Christmas trees, and boys of the sopohomore class had decked the room with Oregon grape. Music for dancing was furnished by the high school orchestra, composed of Laura and Vern Folts, Paul Sletton and Ken neth Hicks. Mrs. H. G. Cooper and Miss Evaline Husbands rendered a vo cal duct and Christmas songs went' sung by sophomore girls. Saturday night the students at the junior high entertained their parents at the high school building. The electric apparatus g iverning the oil supply of the furnace at te high school was out of commission one cold morning last week. No school was held while repairs were being made, but a basket ball tournament was I eld in the assembly hall. In the final game between the seniors and junto-s the former won with a score of 28 -14, In the game between the freshmen and sophomores the score was 21- 20 in favor of the sophomores. The junior high school pupils gave a party in the high school auditorium Saturday evening. They had the bene fit of the decorations used the night before at the high chool party. About 7," pupils and 25 patrons were present. This party vv - given under supervision of Mrs. Harriet lilashfield. The regular assembly was held Mon day morning, at which Dorothy Cram and Harry Hays, both students at O. A. C, gave talks. Alberta Carson, who is now attending U. of O., gave a talk. Caroline Howell, who is now teaching at Lyle, was a visitor also. During the bad weather, for the next month or so, the high school auditori um will be open from 12.25 (o 12.50, at noon, under the supervision of the faculty. The students may congre gate there to play the piano and sing, or for indoor athletics. Appropriate exercises will be held in all city school buildings tomorrow af ternoon. These will be followed by early dismissal. School will not be in session next week, and ti e janitors will take ad vantage of the opportunity of giving the buildings a thorough cleaning, oil ing floors and making necessary re pairs, Mr. Puddy, janitor at junior high for some time, resigned December 21 and was succeeded by J. C. Kennedy. Work is being rushed to complete the new Park street school this week so that the t ransfer of desks and other properties can be made during the holi days. It is expected that the pupils will be housed in the new building when they return to school January 3. Most of the old desks will be refinisherl for use in the new builidng. Night school now has 14 members enrolled in commercial subjects. It meets Tuesdays and Thursday from 7 o'clock to 9. A few more students can be accommodated. The paper drive of last month netted the grade schools $121. (!2, three-fourths of which went to the Park street school.
