Each mcn.licr will constitute a special deputy to re port all such cases. J. E. Cole, ho was made chairman of the meeting said, "There will be lota of quail and China pheasants in the Mosier district next year provided we do not have a hard winter. That is why we want farmers, especially, to take hold in this movement. These birds do just as well here as in the Willamette valley, and in fact it is a better district for them.. If we protect them out of sea-1 son we will be successful in getting ; the season opened up on them next year, when there will be plenty of j good hunting." The following directors were elected : J. E. Cole, L. Evans, Chas. Bennett, Geo. Chamberlain and J. E. Rurpee. The following commi.ttee was .elected to draft by-laws': J.R.Wilcox, Fred' Evans, M.J. Oliphant, W. A Hus bands and Ernest Evans. ; The next meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon, September l'.i, at 2 o'clock in the libraiy building. ASSOCIATION WILL SHIP CAR OF PEAKS (From the Mosier Bulletin) The first carload of pears ever shipped out of Mosier will be loaded either Monday or Tuesday of next week. This comes in response to an order from New York city and has been sold at a very satisfactory price. The pears to be shipped will be of the d'Anjou and Cornice varieties. The pear orchards in the Mosier dis trict are just coming into bearing, stated Manager Chatfield yesterday, and he estimates that there will ' be 1000 boxes more than last year. It Is estimated that there will be 600 boxes of the d'Anjou and Cornice varieties, 500 Bosc and 400 Bartletts. It was necessary last year in making a pear shipment of 250 Bartletts and 2,'() d'Anjous to fill the remainder of the car with apples. The Bartlett pears are being sent to the cannery this year. A communication has been received from A. P. Bateham requesting Mosier to send down exhibits to the Land Products and Manufacturers' show to be held in Portland. Hood Kiver and The Dalles aro planning on sending down exhibits, and it is probable that Mosier wiil come in with some good exhibits, as this district stands a good chance of capturing many prizes on the choice fruits. Prunes are being sent to the dryer at the rate of 25 tons daily. The heavy shipments started Monday and will continue for another week. The Dalles City and Tahoma steamers are carrying the fruit to the Vancouver dryer. Local shipments of Italian prunes, d'Anjou, Fall Butter and Idaho pears and Gravenstein apples are being sent out daily in quantities from 50 to 75 boxes. FINE WHITE SALMON FARM FOR SALE I do not know of a tract of land in the White Salmon valley having great er possibilities for a farm home than the 80 acres I am authorized to sell for $31.50 per acre on easy terms. It is but four miles from the boat landing and railway depot at Underood, Wash., and only one-half mile from the pond or lake, formed in the White Salmon river by the Northwestern dam, with its trout hshing and boating. For more than half a mile Buck creek forms the western boundary of the tract. This gives not only abundance of water for every use, but will develop power at a low cost for every farm and home purpose. Being well sheltered it is free from harmful winds, lopo graphically the land is rolling or slop ing toward the creek, with but very little 'that is not tillable. The soil is the best quality of the Underwood loam, or red shot land, which has proved so productive and easily worked. A great part of the land is covered with a second growth of firs which is not hard to clear, with a beautifful grove of tall firs and some oaks along the north boundary. This tract with its favorable location and advantages is finely adapted to strawberries and fruit trees, especially pears. I shall be very pleased to show this land to a person who desires a splendid tract of land for fruit, berries and diversified farming. Terms : $500 cash.
