APPLY FOR PUCE The exhibitors at the recent first Northwest Land Products ehow at Portland, at a banquet tendered t.i them by the Portland Commercial duo, voted unanimously to make the show an annual event. The gathering represented exhibits from WashinRlon, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. In less than 24 hours aftor the band master sounded "taps," closing the show on the last night, Manager Bund received the first application for space at the next show, to be held in Octo ber. 1913. It was made by President Bailey ofjthe Paisley Irrigation Pro ject, on behalf of the Paisley Commer cial club, which made one of the most attractive community exhibits at the recent land show. "1 will give yuu the best space next year," said Man ager Bond. "Your enterprise in bring ing your exhibits 150 i:.i!ts in wagons and 266 miles by rci'ioad, this year, will not be forgotten." 0. A. C. Work Declared Instructive "It is well worth the time of any poultryman to attend the lectures and demonstrations made at 0. A. 0. dur ing farmers' week," says J. R. Nick elsen, who has a large flock of pure bred poultry on his place west of the city. Mr. Nickelsen returned from Corvallis Saturday. Pens of show fowls were exhibited in a big circus tent and demonstra tions were made there. "1 he most interesting thing 1 saw there was the labratory, where 'tests were made to determine from what diseases chickens were suffering. The lowls are dis sected and their cases diagnosed. When a farmer does not know what killed a chicken he may send itdowntothe Agricultural College and the examin ing experts will tell him." Mears, one of Portland's lead ing business men, who is interested in Hood River property and who makes frequent visits here, .has tendered his resignation to the I'ort of Jl'ortland Commission, with which he ha been connected for a number of years. Mr. Mears has been at the head of the com mission since its reorganization a year and a half ago and a deep regret pre vails at his action.
