Parks, head of the department of geology at the Oregon Agricultural College, has joined the Oregon "Good RoadV'forces in a man ner which, it is beileved, will add groat impetus to the work of that en thusiastic and enterprising organiza tion. During the next few months, Proffessor Parks and a number of his assistants will be engaged in the work or inspecting and testing the rock formation of practically all the im portant deposits in the Willamette Valley with a view of determining which of these formations will make the best material for improved hii?!) ways. The investigation is to be the most thorough geological study that has ever been made in such a line in this state. When the data has been prepared, Professor Parks will issue the results of his work in the form of Pan official bulletin under the aus pices of the 0. A. C. The prelimin ary bulletin will embrace the results found in 12, and perhaps 14 counties in ine western part ot the state. lhey will include the principal de posits in Clackamas, Multnomah, Marion, Lane, Linn, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Washington, and Tillamook and probably Clatsop and Columbia. A second bulletin will be prepared ater with reference to road materials found in Eastern Oregon, and still later the entire state will be covered. Professor Parks will dolus work in conjunction with the general move merit now in charge of Judge Lionel Webster. "We shall tackle the Willamette Valley country first," explained Proffessor Parks today, "for the reason that there seems to be the most urgent need for , improvement of highways in that general territory, not only be cause of its denser population heavier traflic but also because of general condition of the roads at present time. There is no state in Union which has as fine rock suitable for construction of the finest type of modern highways, and it is our purpose not only to report on these deposits, but to determine which will be the best as to quality and accessibility to the roads that need improvement first. Our work will then be broadened to take in the entire state. t ! .4U fx Don't Overeach Yourself in the endeavor to lessen your drug gists bill by purchasing cheap drugs. Cheap drugs are impure as a rule and the risk is too great where a life hangs in the balance. There will be no danger of getting impure drugs here as ours are all guaranteed by the Pure Food and Drugs Act; yet the prices are no higher than the ordinary'. C. A.
