Buckler, uf E Ninth St, Port laud, Ore., say: "In my estimation there Is no remedy equal to Ooan's Kidney Pills. There was a constant soreness across the small of my back aod stooping or lifting would cause sharp twinges in that part of my body. I tried one remedy alter an other but without result. When Doan'a Kidney Fills weie brought to my attention, 1 procii'ed a mi; ply and was benefitted by them from tbe first. The attractive literature sent out during the past year and the wide publicity given all parts of Oregon have been fruitful of results and in auiry about this sta'e was never so general as at the present time. He cause of this widespread Interest in Oregon, it may be expected that the state will receive a laige tmmlgra tion during tbe comnu Spring. L Mason journeyed down to Corvailis to address tbe tarnieis aod others assembled for tbe Xrgicultural College short courses. Several extracts from l be account of his speeob in a Corvailis paper are re printed bere. "A. I. Mason, the Hood River apple man who talked at the O. A. C. Armory last night, was greeted by a large audience that gave every evidenue of sincere appreciation cl hi able address. His expressions were not wholly orthodox, but he spoke from experience aod with authority. When he ottered oppor (unity tor qtvatious, many were tired at Dim and considerable discus sion resulted. Mason held bis own and tbe discussion brought out much information. "Mr. Mason's address was divided into three phases "Improvement of Rural Conditions," an illustrated talk and "Hood River Hot Air,," as he termed it. Under the first, Mr. Mason urged the building and tualn tennnoe of highways, and the preser vation of tbe right and power of the people to enact and to enforce laws. He insisted that there is much that Congress ought to do for the farmer, mure that the state ought to do for him, and still more tbat he ought to do tor himself. A government good roads bureau should he established, and tbe parcels post should become a fact A health bureau was declared to oe a necessity. the legislatuies were soored lor doing so little for the good roads movement A J. Johnson's good toads bill met his favor and be oon sideied it a crime tbat tbe legislature chopped up this measure and left nothing worth while lu Its place. 'Mr. Mason declared that consoll datlon of rural schools is right and proper, tbat only by consolidation oan tbe oountry student get the kind of education he should have. '1'ue first road a farmer should build is a good one from his baru to his gate, and then to his niaiket. "the Hot Air portion or Mr. Mason's address proved to be cold faots and figures based on personal experience, the graiting system . wes remark a by well illustrated in lantern slides and tbe talk was convincing. i 'he open tree system was especially emphasized. Tbe speaker oonfessed that be was a self-made book farmer. but tbat he Is eminently successful was demonstrate'! in tbe appearanoe of his beautiful orchard as shown in tbe slides. Mason was full of humor and happy incidents, and he touched up the vV'illamette valley rather humorously several times. 'Oo not experiment with too many vaiietiea. ! be Yellow Newtowns are tbe best fur llood River, and doubt less beet for tbe Willamette. Oo not plant more tban two varieties in one orchard. In bis opinion tbe Wil lamette baa (not enough sunshine aod too much water for Spitzeu bergs. And then oatne tbe questions. I he crowd enjoyed tbe lectureB aod doubtless will profit by tbe many excellent sug gestions. " Mr. Mason stirred a loyal citizen of the Williainette valley to come forwaid witb a col .inn aud a bait the following week in answer to tbe com parisons between the llood River aud Wilaluuite valleys.
