There would bave been abundance of room tor tbe diepluy and ulao for tbe visitors bad not tbe number of tbe latter far ex ceeded tbe expectations. As it was there was plentyjof room for tbe dis play, and wbile at times the crowds jostled each other, Mew Yorkers are used to this sort of thing, and always take it good naturedly. Ibe apples were arranged artistical ly, and so tbat tbey could be shown to tbe best advantage, tbe room being deoorated with American Hags mid palms. Ibe beauty of tbe fruit itself was sucb, however, that Uih decora tions were bardly noticed. I here bus never before bceu anything like this show In tbe trade, or lather which would in any way compare with it, nnd fiotn the exptesaioas beard on every side, it was quite evident tbat tbe greater portion of the visitors bad never before known tbat Hood River could grow so many different ari etles of One applet. One old gray haired veteran lenmrked wl ile view ing tbe exhibit tbat he bad seen ap ples in all parts of tbe world, but tbat be bad never seen any thing to com pare with these. As there Is sucb keen competition iu tbe apple trade, it was somewhat surprising bow completely jealousies were laid aside and bow members of competitive tlrms joiued in praising tbe exhibit. Not ouly were the mem bers of tbe wholesale apple trade out in full force, but the retailers and the publio in general attended in large uuinbeis. Wbeu leaviog, each visitor bad joine favorable comment to runko, and when mooting others, be advised tbeni to visit the exbibitiou, such an inipressoin did it make upon bis iniiid. Ibe show was lu faot tbe chief topio of interest in tbe ttado tbh week, and tbe llood River Apple Growers' Union should certainly feel elated and gratided.at its complete success. All of the largest city papers contain ed ejaboinle descriptions of tbe dis play, and it is safe to say tlat Hood River apples were never more tbo roughly advertised tbno they were this week. Owing to the gieat number of vaii eties displayed and to tbe further fact th.t a great portinu ot the Jour nal's readeis are more or less lumilur with tbe appearance of eauh, a de scription ot each variety would be supifluous, tut each variety was per fect of its kind and received i s por tion Jt the piuise 11) e big Wolt Riv ers, 27 ot which All an ordinary apple tiox, naturally attranied comment, and the Spitzeubers and Nentowns, whose popularity is alteadv world wide, also brought smiles to tbe faces of tbe luspectug vlcitois.
