The management of the Cottage Hospital is making an effort to secure the publlo library for the hospital whioh was placed here several yeais ago through popular subscription. The matron in ?hargo ot the hospital finds it difllcult to supply patieuta with reading matter and believes tbe library would be a great holp In or der to got it, it will be necessary to get the signatutes of the subscribers to the library, releasing tbe books for that purpose. Corf Visits ilanna & Perigo A cow that was being driven through Oak street Wednesday morn ing by young Hartley suddenly took a notion to visit tbe grocery store of Hantia and Perigo & made a dash tor tbe door. Bulling through It she fell just as sho got inside and made things lively (or a few minutes until she could be held down. To remove tbo animal it was necessary to secure rope and haul her out of the store. No particular damage was done and it is thought that tbe animal was at ti acted by the tine fresh cabbage which she saw displayed in be win dow. This is ouly nuother demon stration of the fact thut It pays to advertise. Inhibitors Busy Placing Display A good many exhibitrs were busy yesterday getting their exhibits in place. One of them was A. P. Bate ham of Mosier who was placing a line d'splay of Spitzeu bergs. Skamania county will have a display at the fair for t he first time. Hit is in charge of Roswelt Shelley aud tor variety it will Le liaid to beut. It consists of fruit, vegetables, grains and cereals and in tact about everything that can be grown in the temperate zone. The llrst exhibit to be pluoed was one made by A. C. Buok consisting of a most remaikablo growth of onions. Tbe fair managers and oarpeuteis put tbe finishing touches on tbe in terior ot tbe pavilion yesterday after noon. A large platform has been erected iu the west end of the pavil ion and it is also provided with sevei al large aro lights. Red aud yetlow, the fair colors, are everywhere iu ev idence and the decorating is iu the competent hands of J. S. Booth. The arrangement of tbe tables aud racks permit ot a much liner display than bus ever been made by tbe fair asso ciation before and when tilled tbe pa vilion will present beautiful sight.
