Editor Glacier: Dear Sir: 1 would like tossy a few words about tbe Far nit.' Irrigation company's dynamite story and that ' malicoua persons used tbe dyna mite." My bouse ia uut very tar from the ditch and my only road i asses along it. During the list eight yuara I be lieve 1 have been over pint of tbia system more thau any oue else. I have uotioed with much Interest all changes that have been made. Dut Ing tbis time many accidents have oo curred. When Mr. Davenport waa manage! tbe people alwaya blamed him when anything went wrong, but lately there has been an attempt to blame some malicious peisou wben aome aooident happened. I spent tbe night ot June 1.), wben tbe Hume was supposed to have been blown out, in my house, wblch ia situated less than 400 feet from tbe section line. Tbe plaoe where tbe flume waa destroyed Is only a few feet further. Do you think a shot of dynamite large enough to carry away "150 feet of flume and tbe tacky ahelt on wblob it rested," aa stated in one report, could have occurred without my bearing it? 1 beard no report that nigbt, altb lugb some shota put io the next evening shook the house, sending rocks through tbe trees close by. Some of the Drat men to visit tbe wreck said there might have been a shot of dyua mite placed undet tbe flume, but theie waa no evidenoe to prove It. A few slivers of boards and some mud splashed on tbe leaves ia all ot their evidenoe. Slivers can lie made and mud splashed without dynamite. A few years ago a break occurred in the Hume a tew rods distant., in tact, both together form oue large slide now. At that time tbe foreman walked up the ttunie aud it seemed to be all right, but one of bis men who arrived a few minutes later found that the flume bad gotten out iu some way, washing away tbe banks, undermining tbe fiunie and doing about aa much damage aa the laat break. Tbe laat creak occurred In a piece ot the old flume, the oldest flume in tbe system, wbiob bad settled some and waa very nearly full of weter. The two wtecks were probably caused lu tbe same way. Tbe land ia eteep and the ground is easily washed. If the flume should leak bete tbe way 1 have seen it leak when I worked for tbe oompauy 1 believe it would do more damage lu lesa time than many "malioloua peraoua." There ia no doubt but what tbe "malioloua per son" ia purely imaginary. Still many of my neighbors object to the'attempt to plaoe said "malioloua person" in tbeit midst. Please look after the creature of your own imagination, for we nave real diton troubles ot our own. Respectfully, C. H ad ley .
