evening, April 21, shortly after seven

besides one brother in Illinois and
one brother and a sister in Minne
sota. Sbe was a member of tbe W. R.
C. and order ot Easter titer. A pio
neer woman, reared in the bard school
that mokes genuine men and women.

On tbe 4th of July tbe members of
Paik Grange invite tbe people of
Hood River Valley to join with them
in an up-to-date oelebration in their
park. Arrangements are being made

The Widows' Pension Bill.
The new pension measure, agreed
on by the conferees ot both bouses

old soldiers new draw $8 a month,
and tbe amount will be increased to

than 190,000 pensioners will have their
monthly stipend inoreased, and there
are about 18,000 widows of civil war
