nance to amend Section 23 of Ordi
nance No. 7. entitled, "An ordinance
to Impose and regulate licenses opon
certain trades or callings, ana rega
ldtlnir the manner of issuing licenses,'
as amended by ordinances Nos. 16
and 18 of said city.
Tbe City of Hood River does or
daln na follows:
Suction 1. That Section 23 of Ordi
nance Mo. 7. entitled. "An ordinance
to Impose and regulate licenses upon
certain trades or callings, and regu
lating the manner of issuing licenses,"
as amended by Ordinance No. 18 and
Ordinance No. 18 of said city, be and
the same is hereby amende, so as to
read as follows:
Section 23. Every person or per
sons, Arm, corporatholon, who owns
has or keeps any horse or horses,
animal or animals, team or teams,
automobile, motorecar, or other ve
hicle, which shall be used (upon tbe
streets, alleys, or public highways
within the corporate limlta of the
City of Hood River.) to convey any
person or persons, article, substance,
Brorjerty or thing, or to do any work
lor, or render any service to any per
son or persons, firm or corporation,
for hire or any valuable considera
tion whatever, other than for the
owner or owners thereof, or for the
(lit.v of Hood River, or mowing oe
cultivating gardens, or which ahalr
lie used exclusively for the burial ol
the dead or for hospital purposes!
shall pay an annual license fee of $20,
for one team, automobile, motor car,
or ot her vehicle so used; $30 for two
team, automobiles, motor cars, or
other vehicles so used; $40 for three
teams, automobiles, motor cars, or
other vehicles so used, and $"0 for
tour or more teams, automobiles,
motor cars or other vehicles so used,
The license provided for in this sec
tlon shall .lie paid annually in ad'
vance.
All licenses heretofore granted to
any of the persons mentioned in this
section shnll continue in full force and
effect until their emlratlon.

Tbe City of Hood Rlverdoes ordain
os follows.
(Section 1. Whenever any person
holding a license to eell spirituous,
vinous or malt Ikiuors in quantities
less than one gallon in the City ot
Hood River, deslrea to transfer 'or
assign the same, tbe common coun
ell may authorise such transfer or
assignment upon the bolder of such
license and his assignee complying
with the conditions nerotnaiter im
nosed.
Section 2. The holder of such 11
cense as aforesaid shall make appll
cation to the common council in
writing for authority to transfer or
assign tbe same, stating therein tbe
name ot his proposed assignee and
tbe unexpired time for which aald
license has to run; the person to
whom such license Is proposed to be
transferred or assigned shall make
and file a good and sufficient bond
with the recorder of tbeClty ot Hood
Itlver In tbe venal sum of il.uuu.no,
before the council shall permit such
license to be assigned, which bond
shall be conditioned and executed in
all resnects as reaulred by Section 8
of Ordinance No. 110 of the City of
Hood River, and such person shall
also obtain the signatures of en
actual majority of the legal voters lu
said city, to a petition to tne com
in on council, craving that such 11
cense be assigned or transferred, all
of which shall be done at the expense
of the petitioner, and without ex
pense to the City of Hood River; the
sufficiency of said petition shall be
determined by the reqiilretnents of
Section 4 of Ordinance No. 110 afore
said: such person shall also make and
Ilk; his affidavit with the recorder of
the City ot Hood River to the effect
that he has not tieen convicted ot

bowever, that no bolder of any li
cense as aforesaid, shall be author
ized or iiermitted by the common
council of the City of Hood River, to
transfer or assign his license during
the pendency of any criminal prose
cution against him by the City of
fjood River, for the violation of any
