In fact, it will be notod fiont the wort by secretary's report that ground him been lost during the past year. Early in January, Brother J. Vor heett resigned as a member of tlie legis lative committee and Brother Thomas Paulson wa apo:uted in hiB place. Shortly after this a special contract was entered into with Brother Vorhees lo go into Easte-u Oregon and canvass in a number of fields where there was thought to be trood prospects of organi zation,' as well as to build up and strengthen eomeexistlnggranges which were evidently much in need of help. As a result ot his work oue new grange Itamsey Park, Xo. 352, has been or ganized in Dufur, Wasco county. Much preliminary work ha teen done in a number of other sections and an im portant section of Eastern Oregon has (tccn saved from absolute loss to the Grange, and, we trust, permaneutly re stored to the field. We have appro ed bills for expenses and per diem in ac cordance with this contract amounting to $138.88, and, considering the re sults . accomplis e 1 and tho oneuing made for future work, we oouslder the money well speut. Realizing the value of good literature In creating sentiment favorable to the Grange, and thus opening the way for organization, we have- taken advantage of the very liberal offer of the Ameri can Grange Bulletin, of teu 3-niouths' trial subscriptions for $1, and have sent It to do missionary work in a nutnUr vf conuiiunliies.
