I'KIUAY, Joint Christmas Eve Service Is Planned The Christmas Sunday service of the Congregational Church will be held at 11 a.m. on Sun day at Hoover Grade School, the temporary meeting place ot the church while a new sanct uary and educational unit arc under construction at the corner of East Jackson St. and Berk eley Way. The Rev. Robert W. Tull will preach a sermon entitled "The Lord is At Hand," the last in a series of Advent sermons on the theme of "The Christian and His Christ." The children of the church school will attend the morning service with their parents and will take part in the worship. The children of the kindergarten and primary classes will sing "Away in a Manger" during the service. The lower junior class will offer a prayer litany which they have written for the oc casion. The junior class will be responsible for the arrangement on the communion table. The choir, under the direction of Charles F. Martin, will sing the anthem "Today There Is Ringing," with Mrs. Raymond Powers at the organ. Tuesday evening the Congre gational Church will join St. Luke's Methodist Church in of fering Christmas Eve services in the sanctuary at St. Luke's Church. Together Mr. Tull and 11,0 Hnv Charles R. McDonald of St. Luke's Church will con duct a 7:30 p.m. service, espec ially for lamiucs wim biihu, and a 10:55 p.m. service for those wishing to observe the an cient Christian tradition of a late Christmas eve candlelight service. The second service will begin at 10:55 p.m. and will terminate at midnight. This will be a tra-diti-"al candlelight service. Mr. McDonald will lead this service assisted by Mr. Tull. Baptists List Christmas Events Christmas services will be held at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sun day at the First Baptist Church. At the II a.m. service, Pastor Bernard E. Andrews will speak on "Why Jesus Came." This is (he lourth and last in a scries on this theme. A mixed quartet compsoed of Maynard Hartley, the Rev. Byron Evans, Miss Belli Wilcox and Mrs. Virginia Andrews will sing excerpts from the cantata, Night ot Mir acles." A duet will be presented by Mr. and Mrs. Kent Thielen. Drysdale. Mrs. Ernest C. Conrad will play the organ. In addition to the Yulelide hymns and carols, the order of service will include Gounod's setting to the "Holy Communion" and "Birthday of a King" by Neidlinger for the Introit. The offer tory anthem will be "The Glory of the Lord" by Handel. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's, will be the preacher and celebrant, assisted by the Rev. David V. A. Browne, and the Rev. Eric O. Robathan. A family choral Eucharist will be held at 10 a.m. on Chrislmas day with St. Mark's Choristers leading the music, and featuring "O Come to the Manger" by Schulz. Mr. Browne will give a Christmas meditation, celebrant will be the rector, assisted by Mr. Browne. Christmas eve at 4 p.m. the clergy of St. Mark's will conduct a half-hour Christmas service in the auditorium of the Rogue Valley Hospital for the benefit of such patients and members of the staff as are able to attend. Dr. and Mrs. Klomhaus re turned last month from the Lutheran Mission Hospital, Eket, Calabar Province, Ni geria, West Africa, where they filled an unexpected vacancy. Two years prior they con cluded a three year stay in the Wabag, Western Highlands area of New Guinea where they set up a medical mission program. After their return they spent the majority of their time show ing pictures and lecturing about the medical mission program of the church. Church Sets The Christmas sermon, "God With Us," will be given by the pastor, the Rev. Paul O. Kroon, at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. Music will be provided by the adult choir and a vocal duct by Mrs. Genevieve Holdridge and Paul Hornbeck. The senior young people's group will present the Christ mas play, "To All People" by Edith Chaffee, at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Following the play, Mrs. Joanne Sousa will play an organ music interlude of Christmas carols. At 7:30 p.m. the adult choir will present the Christmas can lala, "Night of Miracles" by John Peterson. Carver will give the Sunday morning mess age at the Apostolic Faith Church. The prelude will open with Mrs. Robert James at the piano and Mrs. George Sprague at the organ, playing "The Shepherds and the Angels." The 40-piece orchestra will play' Christmas carol selections under the direc tion of William E. Walden, and the women's choir will sing "Christmas Carol," a composi tion of one of the members, Philip W. Brown; "Away in a Manger;" and "No Candle was There and No Fire." At 3 p.m. the orchestra and 60-voice choir of mixed voices will give a Christmas program for the men at the Veterans Ad ministration Domiciliary at White City. RLDS Church To Sponsor 'Messiah' Again this year the Medford Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will join with more than 1,000 other branches of the General Church in sponsoring the national broadcast of Han del's Messiah. For the 47th con secutive year, this classic will be presented by the Independ ence, Mo., Messiah choir. It is traditionally presented on radio world - wide as a Christmas gift from the RLDS church. It will be heard over Radio Sta tion KBOY-FM. Monday Dec. 23, at 8:30 p.m. A Christmas cantata, "Song ot Bethlehem," will be present ed at the local congregation to night at 7:30 p.m. The hour program is arranged and direct ed by Mrs. Harry Spintig, music director of the local branch. 'A Beacon Light' To Be First Methodist Subject A Beacon Light" will be the subject of Dr. George Rose berry's Christmas message at First Methodist Cnurcn Sunday at both morning worship ser vices. At the 9:30 a.m. service Miss Linda Johnson will sing "Jesu Bambino," by Pictro Yon, and the youth choir will sing "As It Fell Upon A Night," an old English carol.
