representative council in the
Portland State Student Center
last week. Some 200 teachers
from throughout the state were
at the session.
Mr. Bailey attended as a rep
resentative of the Medford
Teachers Association. Mrs.
Smith nominated Miss Beulah
Elliott for president-elect, to
which she was named.
The group voted to support
any sales tax measure. They
drew up a resolution to he re
ferred to the National Educa
tion Association convention in
Seattle next summer, the reso
lution strengthening the OEA's
stand on desegregation.
Delegates from the Future

the group to try to obtain legis
lation for five years of college
for elementary teachers, in
creasing subject matter fields,

Christmas luncheon of Gold Hill
Unit in observance of December
birthday anniversaries. The par
ty was held at Rogue Riviera
Dining Inn and 26 guests at
tended. Mrs. Ted Schoenemann an
nounced that $95 had been
turned in by Gold Hill residents
to date for Christmas Seals re
ceived In the mail. About 600
letters for this purpose were
prepared by unit members dur
ing the November meeting.
It was reported that members
of the group had assisted with
raising contributions for the
Heart Fund.
The next unit meeting will
be held in the home of Mrs. E.
C. Hoffman, Tuesday, January
7, at 1 p.m. Mrs. Walter Suth
erland will be cohostcss.
