OREGON CORVALLIS-Just over 8,000 of the 10,426 students enrolled this year at Oregon State Uni versity are from Oregon, with the other 2,400 coming from 46 states, 2 U.S. territories, and 66 foreign countries. Jackson County has 210 stu dents at OSU. All of Oregon's 36 counties are represented. Benton County is the leader with 1.853 students, followed by Multnomah, 1,498; Marion, 61)8; Linn, 528; Lane, 458; and Clackamas, 386. Slightly more than half of the 2,050 students from other states are from California. Washington is a distant second with 241; Hawaii, 237; Alaska, 78; and Idaho, 64. The 370 foreign students come from around the world. The largest group, 37, comes from China. Thirty-two are from India, 30 from Thailand, 26 from Iran and 19 from Korea. Almost half of the foreign stu dents are enrolled in the gradu ate school, working for master's and doctor's degrees. The 10.426 enrollment is a rec ord for Oregon State University. A breakdown of the Jackson County total shows 132 from Medford, Applegate 2, Ashland 23, Butte Falls 2, Central Point 17, Eagle Point 13, Gold Hill 5, Jacksonville 4, Phoenix 2, Rogue River 5, Talent 3, and Trail 2.
