from a first quarter deficit last
night to down the Crater JV
basketball team 72-56 at Rogue
Hiver.
Crater led at the quarter 17-13
and Rogue River 30-26 at the
half. Bob Pentecost had 16
points and Bill Powell 14 for
Rogue River and Fred Marsh 12
and Bill Colley 10 for Crater.
Rogue River shot 44 per cent
from the field and Crater 31
Dave Harper had 13 rebounds
for Crater.

On Saturday night the Eagles
will entertain Glide.
This scheduling clears up a
conflict.
The EP slate had called fur
trips lo Glide Friday and lo
Brookings on Saturday. How
ever, Glide's schedule showed
that It was to be at home to
Phoenix on Friday and was lo
go to Eagle Point on Saturday,
The Phoenix schedule also show
ed that it had a Friday date al

The fact that the Brookings
Bruins had no game set for Fri

Grid Mentor Quits
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (UPI)
Milton Drewer at 40 may be
looking around for a new ca
reer and William and Mary col
lege is looking for a new foot
ball coach.
Drewer, who only a year ago
was a victim of an alumni pow
er play, quit the Indians after
failing to win assurances he
would get more support so he
could field a winning team. Me
never had one in seven years
as head coach.
But now that he and William
and Mary parted, Drewer seems
unconcerned about more coaching.
The situation was set up a
year ago when a group of alum
ni tried to have him removed
completely. His second three
year contract was due to expire
then.
Instead, Drewer hung on but
yielded the title of athletic di
rector to II.' Lester Hooker
while retaining the title of head
coach.
Gambold Interested

STANFORD, Calif. (UPI) -Hob
Gumbold, Stanford assist
ant football coach, said today
he "definitely" was interested
in the vacant head coaching job
at Washington State.
"I've been interested for quite
a while in becoming a head
coach," said Gambold. "I have
had some inquiries about the
Washington State job.
"But I haven't had anything
ollici.il in the way of an offer.
Gambold formerly was an as
sistant coach at Washington
Stale and Oregon State.

The Eagles outscored SM 39-
7 in the last half after trailing
19-6 at the quarter and 36-18 at

Ken Mesloh helped EP with

and Richard Bartling cored 12

Mesloh had 19 points and

he is indignant that no penalty
was called against Hannigan
for inflicting the injury.

"Hannigan had to be carrying
his stick pretty high. If Larry

Miami Hurricanes came to the

ica candidate in Rick Barry,
who sported a 34-point average.?
Santa Clara took on this whirl
wind Tuesday night and tamed
it, 86-77.
Barry did live up to his press
notices as he maintained his
record by hitting 34 points, but
Bruce Asch of Ihc Broncs had
28 and Russ Vrankovich 23 to
spark a well-balanced attack.
It was a fine comeback for
the Broncs, who looked as if
Ihey were in big trouble when
they dropped their season open
