10 B Three Persons Hurt In Traffic Crash PORTLAND (UPI) -Six per sons were injured in a three-car accident on U.S. Highway 99W near here late Saturday night. They were taken to St. Vin cent Hospital. Injured were Kenneth Stead man, 50, Newberg; David Mil ler and Joe Podbielan, both 18 and both, of Sherwood, and David Metzger, 22; Larry Ryan, 1R, and Davis Norte, 21, all of Tigard. House Damaged By Auto; Driver Hurt in Crash A car hit the home of William 0. Burnetle, 329 Ross Lane, Sunday morning. The car drove through t h e front yard, hit the front door and knocked in the door frame about a foot, state police said. Several items hanging on the wall were knocked into the cen ter of the living room. The car also struck the right rear fender of the Burncttc car parked in the driveway. The unidentified driver backed out of the yard and left without leaving his name or address, police said. Lyle Miller, 22, Wildcrville, Ore., was reported in satisfac tory condition today at the Sa cred Heart Hospital wnile being treated for a broken left leg and abrasions. Miller was injured Sunday when his car left East Vilas Road near Oregon 62, went into a ditch and hit a power pole, sheering it off. The driver was taken lo the hospital by the Medford Ambu lance Service. Hazel Becbe Atkins, 67, of 615 Palm St., was cited by state police for failure to drive on the right side of the highway following a two-car collision Sun day on U. S. 99 near Charlotte Anne Lane. Her car, and one driven by Jackson VanBuren Ammons, 47, of 425 Columbus St., Medford, collided when the Atkins car made a left turn in front of the northbound Ammons car, police reported. No injuries were re ported. A car driven by Mary Eron Stuart, 76, of 2435 Foreign Oak Drive, Medford, backed in front of a car driven by Robert Lee Taylor, 18, of 81 Pennsylvania ave., Saturday night at Ross Lane and Foreign Oak Drive. The Taylor car went into the ditch, but no injuries were re ported, state police said. Officers Needed By Coast Guard There is an increased demand for qualified applicants for com missions in the Coast Guard, ac cording to the 13th Coast Guard District office in Seattle. Potential college graduates may apply for Officers Candi date School up to nine months prior to the dale they expect to receive their collcRc degrees. Those selected receive 17 weeks of training at the Offi cer Candidate School, Yorktown, Va. Qualified applicants between 21 and 26 may oblnin additional information from the Coast Guard at 618 Second Ave., Se attlo 4. v yM VA Museum Visitors Exceed Number During Past Year JacksonvilJe Atlendwce at of Ashland tmd Mrs. -Lorenzo -P. the Jacksonville Museum for 1963 has already exceeded the full attendance reported for 1962 by more than 5,000, it was noted today in the report for Dec. I. Attendance for November was 2,334, which brought the total since Jan. 1 to 60,978. The visi tation for the complete year of 1962 was 55,948. These figures bring the total visitation at the museum since its opening on July 10, 1950, to 570.0V4. Guests during the past month were registered from 34 states and the countries of Canada, England, Germany, Kenya, Aus tralia and New Zealand. Mineral Collection A mineral collection, contain ing rocks found in all the west ern states, British Columbia and Texas, was presented last month to the museum by Dixon Dysart OHKilNAL I'OIU'ltAIT Bernard Godwin, internationally-known figure in the art world, presented his original portrait of Pope .Paul VI, shown above, before the Ecumenical Council recently. Documents and photographs of historical interest, including a photo of Dr. Jesse Robinson, I first owner of the first U. S. Hotel in Jacksonville in 1853, were received by the museum from Mrs. Cora Garrett, Red ding, Calif. A Bible and photographs from the estate of J. W. Merritt, early Jacksonville teacher and Central Point merchant, were presented the museum by B. L. Sanderson. Mrs. Edna Brown, 66, Ger vais, was injured fatally when the car she was riding in col lided with a Southern Pacific freight train at Gervais Saturday.
