The five-member commillee will hold a Dec. 8 and 7 meet ing In New York at which sum mer Institutes in advanced placement will be planned. Responsibility of the commit tee is to make up examinations and to draw up course descrip tions and outlines which high schools might follow. Another university faculty member, Miss Helen Soehren. assistant professor of English, will go to Princeton University Dec. 10 where she and other college professors will rend col lege entrance examinations. Foundation to support a sum mer insiuuic in anthropology for junior college and college leacners oi me natural sciences. The institute, one of only two to he held in the nlinn nnvi summer, will coincide with the university's regular eight-week summer session from June 22 to Aug. II. Dr. Alherl C. Spaulding. head of the anthropology department, will be institute director and faculty member. Thirty participants will he chosen from throughout t h e country. Preference will be given to teachers whose princi pal education has been in other disciplines, but who are requir ed to teach at least one basic course in anthropology. Two courses, earn ing a total of nine hours of credit, will be presented In addition, there will he informal coiloquia, talks by visiting lecturers, and two field trips totaling five davs. No tuition will he charged, and participants will be given stipends, dependency allow ances, and partial travel rein bursement. At lea.-.t some of the participants will be housed in university dormitories. Applications must be filed bv Feb. ID. and the names of the participants will he announced on March 5.
