OREGON Pre-Holiday Calendar Filled With Many Events By OLIVE STARCHER Pre-holiday activities of the valley will move into high gear this week with parties, traditional Christmas bazaars, a Holiday Fair, decor shows and the crowning of a snow queen all on the calendar. . Potentate's Ball Probably the largest of these events will be the annual Poten tate's Ball planned by Hillah Temple of the Shrine in honor of Illustrious Potentate Lyndel W. Newbry and Mrs. Ncwbry, Val ; leyview, and members of his divan. It is planned for Saturday, December 7, at the Armory, Jackson County Fairgrounds. Introductions are planned for 8 o'clock, the grand march at 9 o'clock. A buffet supper will be served beginning at 10:30 o'clock. Several hundred Shrincrs and their wives always attend the Potentate's Ball. Military Ball Annfher formal event will be the annual Reserve Officers Ball to be held the same night at Rogue Valley Country Club. Tne event is open to active, reserve and retired officers of all branches of the United States Armed Forces and of the National Guard. Major William C. Tycer is chairman. Rosue Snowmen On neeemher 7 Rocue Snowmen plan a film, style show and crowning of the 1063 Snow Queen, the event to be held at the Medford High School auditorium. St. Anne's Bazaar Also planned for Saturday, December 7, is the annual Christ mas bazaar of St. Anne's Altar Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. It will be held at St. Mary's Elementary School gym nasium from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Candles, dolls and doll clotning, children's sweaters, baked goods and candy, antiques will be on sale; in Santa's Snack Room homemade pie and coffee will be served. Mrs. Frank Gritsch and Mrs. R. A. Naumes are chairmen of the event, Holiday Fair A Holiday Fair will be held Friday, December 0, by Providence Guild of Sacred Heart Hospital at the hospital. The fair will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until all articles are sold according to the crvchairmen, Mrs. Darrcll Miller and Mrs. fred hpiegelburg. Mrs. Charles Lasher is chairman of the food and candy booth Mrs. Ernest Flakus has planned the "white elephant" and stock, ins sluffers booth. Mrs. Stanley Brown's booth will have hand' made articles for sale and Christmas decorations will be sold under Mrs. Robert Miksche s supervision. Extension Bazaar Fourteen Jackson County Homo Extension Units will partici pate in the annual Homo Extension Bazaar, announced lor rri day, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the extension audi torium at the county fairgrounds, Medford. Many useful and inexpensive gifts will be offered, those in charge have stated. Included will be fireplace logs which will add color to the fire, doll clothes, homc-baked goods, homemade candies, Christmas decorations and candles, sluffed toys, cookies and aprons. Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be served by the County Ad visory Committee and the Alumnae Association. Paul-Finemn Rites Held Rainbow Girls Plan Reception JACKSONVILLE - Warren Assembly, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, will hold a small reception for mothers of members following a meet ing set for Monday, December 2, at 7:15 p.m. in the Jackson ville Masonic Hall. It is stated that the reception will .be a gesture of apprecia tion for the work of mothers in connection with the group. Miss Edie Reinking, worthy advicor, will preside. Jig officiated at the wedding ceremony and read the nuptial mass at 10:30 a. m. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Finegan, 618 South Holly Street Mr. Paul's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith, Sutherlin, Ore. White chrysanthemums deco rated the church. The bride wore a floor length gown of white satin brocade fashioned with fitted bodice, long tapered sleeves, notched scoop neckline accented with a miniature bow and a bell shaped skirt. The skirt's chapel train fell from a shepherdess bustle centered with a self fabric rose. Her elbow length veil of handrolled silk illusion was held by a queen's crown of iridescent crystals and aurora borealis rhineslones. Heirloom Handkerchief She carried a bouquet of white Fiji chrysanthemums with pearl hearts and a white lace handkerchief loaned by Mrs. Richard Mileslon which has been carried by brides during the past 73 years. Mr. Finegan escorted his daughter to the altar. Mrs. Donald T. Wilkinson was honor attendant for her sister. The other attendants were Miss Karen Stansbury and Miss Lu cille Lowry, Phoenix, and Mrs. Forrest Cook, Central Point. They wore frocks of yellow bro cade in afternoon length with matching veils and shoes. They carried bouquets of gold and bronze Fuji chrysanthemums. Duane Paul, San Leandro, Calif., served as best man for his brother. Seating the guests were Paul Smith, Gary Miksche and Allen Yates. Wears Brocade For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed at the ltoRiic Valley Country Club, Mrs. Finegan chose a sheath dress of raspberry brocade with matching accessories. Mrs. Smith wore a blue wool dress with black accessories. Their corsages were white orchids. Mr. Bennett's abstract - ex pressionist oil painting depicts a night scene at the Peter Brilt Music Festival in Jacksonville, and was done as the artist saw it from the audience sealed on Ihe hillside. Some of Ihe audi ence and trees are shown in Ihe foreground with the orchestra performing on stage in the shell. Mr. West, now an artist in residence at Ml. Angel College, Mt. Angel. The bride's mother announced the news at a champagne party attended by some 125 guests. The bridegroom-elect's parents were among those who attended. Miss Williams is a graduate of McClatchy High School and at tended Sacramento City Col lege and Sacramento State Col lege. She is affiliated with Como Amiga, Phi Delta Beta, Venture Club and Sutter Hospital Auxil iary. The bridegroom-elect was a member of the Medford High Student Chosen For Honor Group CORVALLIS Joyce K.
