That-way you're prepared - lor any eventuality. ,' Double Dueling Pistols ' ' A couple of years ago, Nel-man-Marcus of Dallas offered Its customers "his" and "hers" airplanes. And this year, I hear it has been featuring "his"; and "hers" dueling pistols. But neither, to my notion, is in the class with "his" and hers" bathtubs. Which goes to show how truly ingenious the British are. A bit over-sexed perhaps, but ingenious. Double bathtubs would not, of course, be practical in every home. For example, mine. If we attempted togetherness of this type we would wind up in a divorce court. I like to bathe In the morning. She takes her bath at night. I like a shower. She prefers im mersion. I bathe in water that is barely tepid. She likes it scalding hot. Britishers are Creative A double bathtub at our house would just be a waste of water. Nevertheless. I salute the British for creative thinking. There has been a tendency in some quarters lately to sell the Empire short. This should put an end to talk that Britain is about finished as a world pow er. Mark Hatfield left here for Washing ton, D.C. as scheduled Sunday for the funeral of President Kennedy after undergoing minor surgery of an undisclosed na ture late Saturday., The governor's office '; said Hatfield was treated by Dr. tiume Downes at Salem Mem orial Hospital. Hatfield was slated to return to uregon tonight. , His ' departure and arrival times were not released hccauiut of several "crank" nhono n his office had received which were described as "violent." - Search for Missing Pilot Called Off SPOKANE (UPI) The search for 1st- lit.. Robert J. Boucher, 25, Spokane, who bailed out of his F89J fighter plane; in the rugged country of North-central Washington Nov. 14 was called off Sunday. 1 : Bad weather had prevented air search efforts during the weekend. The 75-man ground search crew returned to Gelger Air. Force Base near Spokane Sunday night. Among them was the pilot's bother, Joe, of Tuc son,, Ariz., An Air Force search team reached the crashed aircraft and determined that Boucher was not in the wreckage. His radar observor, 1st Lt. Rollln Deschange, 27, . Spokane, was found safe the day after the the crash .after spending the night in the mountains. Boucher had 10 days' rations on him when he balled out. The snow is at. least two feet deep in the area and it has been snowing intermittently since the. crash. t The plane crashed near the Canadian border in the prim itive area of the north Cascades. Boucher was flying a routine mission for the Washington Air National guard at the time of the crash.
