OBITUARIES MICHAEL J. LATENDRESSE Recitation of the holy rosarv for Michael J. Latendresse, 17, m s. noiiy si., Medlord, who died Friday, will be conducted Sunday evening at 8 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Merlford. A requiem- mass will be read by the Rev. John Keane, Principal of St. Mary's man hcnooi, Monday at 8 a.m in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park. Michael was born Sept. 30, 194G, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Lyle and Esther Laten dresse, who survive. The fam ily have been residents of Ore gon since 1848, and moved. to Medford from Grants Pass in 1960. Michael was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford, and a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality. He was a senior at St. Mary's High School, and was very active in sports, having been a member of the football, basketball, and track teams. He also belonged to the Letterman s Club. Dut ing his junior year, he was president of his class, and vice president of the National Honor Society, of which he was still a member. He was a winner of the United Nation's Essay Con test. At the time of his death, he was Vice President of St. Mary's High School student body. The remains will lie in state at the Chapel in the Trees Mor tuary,, within Siskiyou Memor ial, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday. Survivors besides his parents include two brothers, Patrick and Timothy Latendresse, at home; one sister, Sarah Francis Latendresse, at home; his pa ternal grandmother, Mrs. Fran cis Latendresse, Indianapolis, Indiana, and his maternal Jacksonville Mules Miss SOC Parade JACKSONVILLE - Several muled belonging to George Mc Une of Jacksonville's Pioneer Village were scheduled to pull a stagecouch in the Southern Oregon College Homecoming pa rade in Ashland Saturday morn ing but they never made it there. The mules, which pulled a wagon to Oregon from Missouri in 1959 in observance of the Oregon (Milennial, were being transported in a trailer. As the vehicle, driven by Dan Hayes, was proceeding along the Jacksonville Highway west of Medford, a tire went flat, throwing the trailer out of con trol and into a ditch. The mules had to be walked back to the Pioneer Village. Mcllne and a group of four other persons dressed in cos tumes out of the past continued on to Ashland and rode on an other float. A total of 207 items were sold at tho department's storage building at the Medford Munici pal airport. Among items sold were 14 automobiles and 14 bi cycles. Lt. Thomas William Swoape, 106 Clark St., Medford, said the wing of his car's front window was damaged while the car was parked on Holly St., Medford, but nothing was taken. Wayne Howard, Route 2, Box 39, Jacksonville, reported that 11 gallons of gas were taken from his car Friday while it was parked in an alley between Jasper and Ivy S'.s. and between Melrose and O'Gara Sts., police said. Jill Elaine Dusenbury, Cres cent City, Calif., reported an empty black purse and a light gray travel case were taken from her car while it was park ed in the Medford Shopping Center. Cox, Becken Attend Yachals Workshop Berl Cox, principal of Mc-. Loughlin High School, and Dr. Elliot Becken, assistant superin tendent of Medford School Dis trict 549C, were among 30 school administrators, college profes sors, and State Department con sultants who attended a work shop in Yachats recently to study the merits of flexible scheduling and recommend pro cedures for assisting Oregon high schools to introduce flexi bility into their programs. The workshop, sponsored by the State Department of Educa tion, was conducted by Dr. Rob ert Bush, professor of education at Stanford University and a recognized authority on new techniques in class scheduling. Participants in the conference discussed the successful forms of flexible scheduling which their schools have experienced, as well as various problems they faced. Dr. Willard Bear, assistant superintendent in charge of in struction, and Dr. James B. El lingson, director of secondary education, both in the State De partment of Education, organ ized and conducted the work shop. Roundtable Program A 60 minule film titled "Pollution in Paradise" will be shown at the Monday noon luncheon of the Medford Chamber of Commerce Roundtable. The controversial film was produced by a Port land television station. Round table members were urged by Chairman Robert Balk to ar rive early for the luncheon if possible, since showing of the film will commence at 12:10 p.m. The Roundtable meets at North's Chuck Wagon. "This will -be the last get together before Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, so it is impor tant that everybody attend," Pat Graham, chairman of the parade committee, said. Faces New Charge HILLSBORO (UPI) A For est Grove man found innocent of an assault charge Thursday faces a new charge today. Emil Jakim, a former lan guage instructor at Pacific Uni versity in Forest Grove, has been charged formally with as sault with a dangerous weapon. Millard W. Wallin of Portland accused Jakim of attacking him with a 10-inch screwdriver Oct. 26. Jakim, 411, was acquitted Thursday of an assault and bat tery charge resulting from an altercation on the Forest Grove campus in May with J. Victor Hueson, a foreign language in structor. False Alarms Medford fire men were kept busy Friday eve. nine by a scries of false alarms including one at Medford High School. Firemen also were call ed out to turn off the water at six fire hydrants in the city. The water was believed to have been turned on by pranksters. Three Parked Cars Damaged in City Three parked cars in Med ford were damaged by other ve hicles, two of which did not stop Thursday, according to Medford city police. Two of the cars were owned by Donald Dolmar Zeitlcr, 1125 W. 10th St., and Bobby Ray Hicks, 712 Cedar St. The ve hicles were damaged while parked at the owners' resi residences. The other vehicle, owned by Dorothy Jean Stevens, 120 Freeman Road, was hit by a car operated by Pamela Jo Roberts, Lampman Road, Gold Hill, while the Stevens vehicle was on Riverside Ave. near Aus tin St., police said. Orders Are Received For Christmas Help SALEM (UPI) -The State Employment Service said Satur day that orders are being re ceived for temporary help for the Christmas holiday season. Director Eldon Cone said in dications are for a record holi day season with an early buy ing trend. Persons seeking holiday work were asked to register at their nearest State Employment Serv ice office. Most job openings are for sales clerks, cashiers, gift wrappers and mail handlers. Richard Walton Borden, 1621 North Riverside Ave., said a tire was slashed while his car was parked at Don's Hide-A-Way restaurant. Louis Alexander Walch, route l, Box 359, Talent, re ported his tires were punctured while his car was parked at Riverside Avenue and Ohio Street. Two other vehicles with pun ctured tires were owned by Robert Thomas Lafferty, 602 North Riverside Ave.; Carl Eisenbert 847 South Riverside Ave. The owner of one vehicle with punctured tires is not known. The car is a 1951 Ply mouth. These cars were parked at Dumas Domestic Laundry. Richard Burnett Garrett, 1416 Crown St., reported his two front tires were punctured while his car was in the U. S. Nation al Bank of Oregon parking lot between Main and Sixth Streets. Other cars found parked there with punctured tires were reg istered to John Ruby Paudois, 431 East Vilas Road, and Elgyn Huffman, 722 Park St. A car parked at 10 Noilh Front St. Saturday afternoon was also found with punctured tires. Atchley, 174 North Main St., Ashland, and a car driven by Margaret Simonson Hamma wait, 341 South Oakdale Ave., collided Friday afternoon on South Riverside Avenue between Main and Eighth Streets, Med ford police reported.
