Meetings have been set up with the American Red Cross and the Jackson County Wel fare Department to discuss plans and to assign various phases of the work designed to make sure that no child will be forgotten at Christmas. The Medford Fire Depart ment started work Monday, re ceiving and repairing toys. Medford and vicinity residents are asked to cooperate in the collection. This is the 32nd year that the Medford Fire Department has handled this project. The deadline for receiving toys has been set as Dec. 16. Toys should be left at the main fire sta tion at Third and Front Sts. in Medford, spokesmen an nounced. Toys Will Be Accepted All types of toys will be ac cepted, dolls, tricycles, bi cycles, wagons, scooters, com plete puzzles, games and small miscellaneous toys. Gifts such as old portable radios and cos tume jewelry are needed for the older age groups, the fire men said. All are repaired and painted by the firemen. Manv volunteers will be need ed to dress the hundreds of dolls that come through this channel, the Salvation Army stated. Women of the Home Leagues started this work sev eral weeks ago. The Elks Club has again ac cepted the responsibility of packing and delivering the food baskets distributed at Christ mas. Food drives will be launched to fill the baskets The Salvation Army also will direct the packaging of gifts for the various rest homes, hos pitals and White City Domicil iary. Marion County Dist. Atty. Hat tie Kremen said the jury will be reconvened after additional investigation. Melvin Anderson, 62, hospi talize for nearly a year, was found dead in his bed Saturday morning. Dr. Russell C. Henry, state medical investigator, told the jury he believes blows were struck. Dr. W. L. Lidbcck, pathologist for state institutions, attributed death to asphyxiation caused by a blood blockade in Anderson's windpipe.
