Pollution Control Association
will meet at the Grants Pass
City Hall Nov. 1 at 11 a.m.
The section includes Jackson,
Josephine and Klamath counties.

The meetings are held for all
persons interested in water puri
fication. Through discussion be
tween members of the section,
members of the association and
with others, advanced and prac
tical knowledge concerning the
nature, collection, treatment and
disposal of sewage and indus
trial wastes and the design, con
struction, operation and man
agement of sewage works is
gained.
At the Nov. 1 meeting three
members will speak on the

gon Independent Grocers con
vention has been told that
the Oregon Liquor Control Com
mission plans to close a num
ber of its liquor stores, particu
larly those with low volume.
OLCC Administrator Don J
Barnick also told the grocers
their cooperation in enforcing
rules on package sales of beer
and wine is necessary (or effec
tive administration.
He said the commission is at
tempting to shift some of the
responsibility for infractions
from the grocer to the teenager
who attempts to buy the beverage.
PORTLAND (UPI) - The
State Board of Higher Educa
tion has given the go-ahead for
condemnation suits to acquire

Catholic priest has gone nn a
hunger strike to protest the
sale of pornographic literature
In the city.
The Rev. Morton A. Hill, a
Jesuit, told parishioners at St.
Ignatius Loyola Sunday he
would continue his fast until a
crackdown is ordered by Mayor
Robert F. WaRner.
The Jesuit, who said he began
his fast at 8 p.m. Friday and
was subsisting only on water,
accused Wagner of falling to
follow through with a promised
four-point program to eliminate
pornographic sales.
