Lewis, whose late summer wedding took place in Manila, Philip pine Islands, left Wednesday for San Diego after spending three weeks with Mr. Lewis' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Dow Lewis, 20 Hamilton street, Medford. During the young couple's stay here his parents were hosts at an informal reception and dance at their summer home on Upper Applegate, which was at tended by 50 guests. Relatives attending from California in cluded Mrs. Alice Morris, Oak land, aunt of the bridegroom, her son John and daughter Anne. Mr. and Mrs. Duanc Ward, Pacifica, cousins, also were present, as were Mr. and Mrs. John Ramsay, San Louis Obispo. The bride, the former Trini dad Javier, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Angel Javier of Manila. She attended the Philippine College of Commerce. The bridegroom is a graduate of Medford High School and has been in the United States Navy for five years. He is making the Navy his career. The wedding took place at Malate Church, Manila, August 24. Lewis at Part) by her father, wore a sheath gown of bridal silk and lace de signed with a long train. She carried white orchids. Miss Milagros Javier, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Miss Gloria Santos and Miss Virginia Olizires were brides maids. The attendants wore pas tel gowns of crystal silk. David Kersey, United States Navy, was best man, and James Bath and Victor Chavez, also of the Navy, were ushers. Mrs. Helen Raqueno, cousin of the bride, and Ronald Kantz were sponsors, attending in lieu of the bridegroom's parents. One hundred fifty guests attended the wedding. Cecilia Javier, sister of the bride, and Rizalina Changococo were flower girls. Mario Javier, brother of the bride, was ring bearer. The church, was decorated with samcajutia, national flower of the Philippines, and daisies. The car in which the bridal party rode also was decorated with these flowers. Following the ceremony a re- ception and dinner were given at Aristocrat Sun-ya, Manila. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis went to Baguio, a mountain resort, for their honeymoon. Mrs. Ruby Robert son, Portland, president, con ducted the official inspection of work done by Medford mem bers. With her were Mrs. Glady Frederickson, Creswell, vice president and reviewing offi cer; Mrs. Carol Holowell, Grants Pass, treasurer: Mrs. Ruby Hawkins, Portland, inner sentry; Mrs. Ethel Abel, Grants Pass, publicity chairman; Mrs. Riley Appelgate, Central Point, past president of Oregon Re- bekah assembly; Mrs. Gladys Racicot, Portland; Mrs. Leah Ivie, Salem and Mrs. Viola Perry, Mrs. Mary Fern and Mrs. Stella LeManquais, Grants Pass. The president spoke of her project for the year which is to furnish a hospital bed in the IOOF home in Portland. This will be the eleventh bed presented to the hospital by auxiliary presidents and aux iliaries. Each visitor was presented a gift. Plans were made by the local group to attend church Novem ber 17. Refreshments were served during a social hour also at tended by members of Patri archs Militant. Rebekah Lodge Honors Members Monday Night "Today Is Eternal" was the title for an addendum which honored forty-year members of Olive Rebekah lodge at the October 21 session of the lodge in Medford IOOF hall. Oldtime clocks and decorations were used to accent the theme. Fourteen women who have been members of the lodge for 40 years attended. They were Mrs. Joe Cave, Mrs. A. D. Hess, Mrs. Lottie Howard, Mrs. Clara Franklin, Mrs. Lean Ivie, Miss Caroline Leaders, Mrs. Evelyn Mahan, Mrs. Clarence Pankey, Mrs. Margery Pearson, Mrs. E. W. Pease, Mrs. Lyle Pickell, Mrs. Earl Scriptcr, Mrs. Irene Shirley and Mrs. Rosa Young Mrs. LcRoy Cline, noble grand, presided. Mrs. Grace E. Lamb trans- ferred to the local group from Beaver City, Neb. , Plans were made for a visit November 12 to Hope Rebekah lodge, Ashland, to observe Friendship night. CAFE . . Twins' Club State Meeting Is Announced Three valley women plan to attend a state level organiza tional meeting of Mothers of Twins' Clubs scheduled in Sa lem for November 2 at 10 a. m., in Marion Motor hotel, Salem. Those planning to go are Mrs. Delvin L. Elder, Nick Young road, Central Point, president of the local chapter; Mrs. Ray Schwartz, South Stage road, so cial chairman and Mrs. Marie Spielbush, ways and means chairman. Mrs. Richard D. Gundry, Beaverton, national Organiza tion of Mothers of Twins Clubs Inc., representative, from the Washington County Club and Mrs. John Orcfice, Portland, president of the "C-2" club in southeast Portland, will be in charge of the November 2 meet ing. Although numerous Oregon clubs exist, a state organization has not been formed to now. Purpose of the club through out the nation is to promote and broaden the understanding of those aspects of child develop ment and rearing which relate especially to twins, through the interchange of information be tween oarents, educators, doc tors and others with a direct in terest and appropriate experi ence. Famed Actress Will Appear In Portland Annps Moorehead. the famed American actres, will appear November 1 in Portland s ruo lic Auditorium presenting a solo nnrfnrmance entitled. In a varied and successful career, Miss Morehead has at one time or another, ridden a circus elephant, played Little Eva on a Mississippi River show boat, and terrified the nation with her interpretation of the doomed woman in "Sorry, Wrong Number," the advance notice points out. Ladies of Elks To Entertain Ashland Group Medford Ladies of Elks are making plans to entertain the Ashland Ladies, Tuesday, No vember 5. The women will meet together in the downstairs lounge of the Elks club at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon is to be served at 12:30 p. m. During the after noon bridge, pinochle and ca nasta will be played. MEDFORD, Fashion Show, Luncheon Autumn leaves were the theme and were used in the ! decorations for the style show, j card party and luncheon given 1 by the Travel Study Club of the Oregon Federation of Worn-1 en s Clubs last Tuesday at the Girls Community club. Clothing modeled was from Town and Country shop of White City with Mrs. Doreen L. Vaughn narrating. Shoes worn by the models were from Karl s Shoe Store and their hair styles were by Rollands Studio of Beauty with Mrs. Billy Powers narrating. Mrs. F. D. Nelson, Mrs. James L. Alleman and Mrs. Gene Chamberlain of the Jun ior Women's club, Mrs. Esther Coleman, Mrs. Wilbur E. How ell and Mrs. Willis T. Fascl of the Travel Study club mod eled. Before the models appeared, Mrs. Doreen L. Vaughan, who with Mrs. Clara Chamberlain operates Town and Country shop, commented on general style trends. She noted that many are asking "which way the skirt, up or down," and said that indications are that no drastic changes would be made for some time. Mrs. Vaughan noted that the berry shades, such as cranberry and blackberry, are the favored col ors this season, and that teal blue is also popular. The shift or skimmer type of dress is at an all-time high in popularity, the commentator noted. To show the versatility of the jumper, in fashion again this year, Mrs. Gene Chamberlain modeled a black velvet jumper, first with a long-sleeved beige blouse and then without the rtvnt Ain a$d Bartlett Streets OREGON blouse and accented with jewelry. Mrs. F. D. Nelson made one appearance wearing a black knit dress with knit-in beige sleeves and high neck, giving it the jumper look: with this she wore a fake leopard hat and carried a huge purse of the same material. Catholic Group To Make Trip Members of Catholic Daugh ters of America, Court St. Mary, will travel to Klamath Falls Monday, October 28 as guests of Court Klamath mem bers at a reception for new members. Mrs. Norbert Omann is to be come a member of the local court that evening. The members plan to go by Greyhound bus which will leave Monday, at 5:3(1 p. m. Among recent activities of Court St. Mary was a card party in Knights of Columbus hall. Mrs. John Dubay was chairman of the decoration committee. Costume Event Plan of Lodge A "hard time" costume party in observance of Halloween will be conducted by Degree of Hon or Lodge Monday, October 28 at 6:30 n. m in Girls Community club. Prizes will be awarded for the costume judged most suit able for the occasion, officers have announced. Members who have birthdays between July 1 and December 31 will be honored. Ride Given by Women's Club One of the more interesting ensembles was one worn by Mrs. Fasel in cranberry red. The dress and matching coat were cut to give the "layered look" so chic this year. Mrs. Powers explained that hair styles are closer and sleeker than last season, and as each model made her first appearance, described the styl ine of her hair. Music for the style show was furnished by the Music Center with Miss Marilyn Ernest at the organ. Mrs. Robert Snider of the Ashland Civic Club sang several numbers, accompanied by Miss Edna Dougherty. A salad luncheon was served to 150 guests. lntroductcd by the chairman, Mrs. Clav M. Lee, were Mrs William Harms, president of First District, Oregon Federa tion of Women's Clubs and president of Grants Pass Wom en's Federated Breakfast Club, and Mrs. John Baldwin, presi dent of Talent Federated Wom en's Club. Other state officers intro duced were Mrs. Roy Nye, Ash land, state department chair man of international affairs; Mrs. Chamberlain, Medford, state division chairman of art and pennies for art; Mrs. Jack Holmes, president of Medford Junior Women's club; Mrs. Lee, state division chairman of projects and Mrs. Bryl Lyon, president of Travel Study Club who gave a report on the Gen eral Federation of Women's clubs and the projects of the local club, and Mrs. Bren H. Starcher, women's editor of The Medford Mail Tribune.
