OREGON 21. 1 1 7 Bulle Falls Grange The potluck supper held the last part of September by the Butte Falls Grange was reported to be successful. The evening weather was ideal, rather unusual, for so late in the year, it was stated at the recent meeting of the Grange. Grange Master Ted Freden burg reported for the agricul ture committee concerning the recent feeder sale. Lecturer Ben Fulton reported on the Jackson county booth at the Oregon State fair in Salem. The pot of gold at the end of a rainbow was the background in the booth. Jackson county ranked high in the state fair since its representatives receiv ed many first, second and third prizes. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Roy Green and Mrs. Oliver Boyd. Officers will be elected at the Nov. 4 meeting. The Home Economics club met recently at the home of Mrs. Amon Cothrin. Dec. 13 was set for the annual bazaar and food sale combined with a rum mage sale this year. Anyone having rummage to donate may leave it at the city hall on library days, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The November club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Lelh Meadows, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. Officers will be elected. News About Servicemen ABOARD FRIGATE Radioman Third Class Dean M. Lamp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morley B. Lamp, 2781 Howard avc., is serving aboard the guid ed missile frigate USS Henry B. Wilson which left San Diego, Calif., recently for the Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific. IN OPERATION Marine Cpl. Daniel W. Rou hier. son of Mrs. Margaret E. Rouhier, 515 South Grape St., is serving with the Fourth Ma rine Regiment, First Marine Di vision in Hawaii which is par ticipating in joint training ma neuvers, titled operation Dull Knife wilh Pacilic Fleet Am phibious forces. WITH UNIT Airman Second Class Michael T. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Emery, 513 Beatty St., has been assigned to the Strate gic Air Command unit at March Air Force Base, Calif. IN ENGLAND Staff Sgt. Arthur R. Tabb. son of Mrs. Christine L. Wallace. Shady Cove, has been named the outstanding non-commissioned officer of the 92t)lh transpor tation squadron at Brize Norton Royal Air Force station, Eng land. Sergeant Tabb, an Air Force administrative supervisor, was selected for the honor in recog nition of his exemplary conduct and performance of duly. Student Wounded In Police Chas VANCOUVER. Wash. (L'PH A Universilv of Oregon Dental School student was shot and wounded during a police chase early Sunday. The chase ended in the front yard of of Police Chief Ed Mayo. Officers said Larry Robert Lewis. 22. Portland, was being held in Clark County Hospital. He is a second year student at the University of Oregon Dental School. Mayo said four Vancouver policemen and one Clark Coun ty officer took part in the chase but it was not known who fired the shot that struck Lewis. He was wounded in the hip and hand. i Officers said Lewis was sig-: naled to stop by a sheriff's j deputy about 2:1a a.m. But alt er stopping. Lewis reportedly turned around and fled. The deputy chased him into the city, stopped him and struggled with him but the student escaped.
